There is no single more difficult lesson to teach a homeschooled child than learning to read. Though secretly, many homeschooled moms often measure their success of failure based on how well, and at what age their child can read. Whether you are homeschooling your kids, giving them a head start in the reading department, or getting them caught up with the class, this website will help your child to learn how to read, one-step at a time. It consists of four units:

Using this site is simple. The child would only need to start at the beginning, and work through it in the order it is set up.

âÂ?¢ ABC’s: Introduces the child to letter sounds. The lessons are very much reminiscent of Sesame Street with a child’s voice pronouncing the letters, pictures of items that start with the letter, and great sound effects.

� Learn to Read: Early Beginning Reader: This unit allows the child to add a letter to complete a word. For each new word learned, is a story for the child to read.

âÂ?¢ It’s fun to read: Intermediate beginning reader: While learning how to read, the child will digest other useful information like the life of Vincent Van Gogh.

âÂ?¢ I’m Reading: Beginning reader to advanced readers can find classic books here. They can read the book themselves, but if they are stuck, they can choose the ear icon to hear the passage read to them.

In addition to the online interactive website, there are print outs for practice on writing the letters, and other important activities like using a calendar, learning about earth day, and more.

The star fall program teaches phonemic awareness, pronunciation, and word deciphering. The stories are interesting and help develop vocabulary, and strengthen language comprehension as well. You also have the option of paying for a learn to read kit or printed learning materials.
