Choosing a Camping Stove

So you are thinking about packing up and hitting the trail for a summer outing. Nothing can be more relaxing than sleeping under the stars and cooling on an open fire, nothing, that is, except cooking on a good reliable camping stove.

Camping season is upon us but so is fire season so many camp grounds and hiking areas are banning the art of building that open fire, however camping stoves are still allowed if used properly.

Camping stoves come in all shapes, sizes, and varieties. Depending on your needs you won’t need the same type of camping stove everyone else. If you are camping alone, for instance or with one other person, your will not need a huge camping stove. If you are traveling with a group, however, it is important to buy a camping stove that will feel the entire crew. Decide ahead of time and save yourself time, money and space by getting what you need.

There are a lot of online resources for all your outdoors supplies. Many sites carry a wide variety of camping stoves, including both canister fueled and liquid fueled stoves. Leading brands as Coleman and Century Tool all carry the different types of camping stoves to suit your needs. You want a camping stove that is portable and maybe even has a carry case for easy transportation. Some larger camping stoves come with legs and shelves while the smaller models may be made of durable steel construction. No matter what you are looking for, there is a model out there for you.

There are two general camping stoves, backpacking stoves and larger camping stoves. Both will do the job but depending on what your aim is you may want one or the other. If you are hiking then the backpack camping stove may be for you however if you are on a family camping trip the larger stove will do the trick. Backpacking stoves are smaller in size and weight which makes them portable. Larger stoves are reserved for those who are using a car or RV to tote their camping equipment in.

What ever type of camping trip you have planned there is a camping stove out there to fit your needs. No matter what stove you decide on however, make sure to follow fire safety rules during this dry season. Remember that fires can start with camping stoves too so use care when operating one.
