Fourth of July Celebrations in Wisconsin

Wisconsin will be taking part in Independence Day celebrations across all of its diverse counties! Most are home to a vast variety of activities, fireworks displays, and celebrations in honor of Fourth of July. Enjoy the festivities on a lake, take part in one of the Midwest’s largest fireworks displays, or join an ice cream social. Carnivals and parades abound in almost every town, and Madison, Wisconsin’s capitol, offers specials and activities in the downtown district. Kick off the Fourth of July celebrations on the weekend with many fireworks displays and continue celebrating through Tuesday!

Fourth of July celebrations aren’t limited to just one day! Wisconsin will be celebrating beginning July 1, and offers fun for the whole family. All counties and districts featured below are in date order, with contact phone numbers provided:

Saturday, July 1 2006:

Castle Rock Lake begins a fireworks display at dusk in Castle Rock County Park in Adams County. Call (608) 339-6555 for details.

Fire on the River: The Wisconsin River features one of the area’s biggest fireworks displays, and the festivities begin at dusk in Sauk Couty. Call (800) 683-2453 for details.

Wanderoos 39th Independence Day Celebration: This event in Polk County offers two parades, a chicken dinner, and volleyball and softball tournaments for the whole family. Fireworks begin at dusk, and picnic baskets are recommended. Call (715) 268-2618 for details.

Truck Pull and Celebration: This event is sponsored by the Kennan Fire Department, to take place at Kennan Memorial Park in Price County. A parade is scheduled for 10:15 a.m., with 4-wheel truck pulls beginning at 1 p.m.

Celebration at St. Germain: St. Germain Community Park in Vilas County is home to a unique Independence Day celebration starting at 9 a.m. A parade is scheduled at 1 p.m. downtown, and a Stump Dump Pageant at 7:30 p.m. followed by fireworks is fun for the whole family. July 3, 2006
