Review of the Flutterbye Dreams Bouncer for Infants

While preparing for the arrival of my baby, at the top of my must have list was a bouncer. There are countless bouncers on the market, so I did my research to find out which one I thought would work best for my baby and me. After much consideration I chose the Flutterbye Dreams Bouncer.

The Flutterbye Dreams Bouncer is made by Fisher-Price and is one of their many products in the Flutterbye line. It has a yellow seat with bluebirds on the print. The toy bar features a bluebird and a ring toy on each side.

The Flutterbye was relatively easy to assemble, although I did have some issues on my first attempt. Once I carefully read over the directions for a second time, it went together with no problems. You will need a screwdriver and two sets of hands; someone to help will make it much easier to put together. I had someone holding the base in play while I stabilized the unit with screws. The seat is easy to place on the base unit. We have taken the Flutterbye Dreams bouncer apart several times for traveling purposes and been able to reassemble without the instructions.

The Flutterbye takes both D and AA batteries. The seat portion of the bouncer takes one D battery. This is the calming vibrations motion part of the bouncer. The toy mechanism that rests in front of the baby takes two AA batteries. The toy bar plays music when baby plays with the toys. The calming vibrations of the seat really help to soothe my baby. She is content in the seat without the calming vibrations. When she starts to get antsy, I can switch it on, and she is appeased for a little longer.

My little one is entertained in this seat for up to an hour at a time. The toy arm has two hanging toys for her to pull. One has a rattle-like toy on it while the other is more musical. Pulling the toys will make the bluebird in the middle of the toy bar spin around and play music. There are two volume settings as well as two other settings for continuous music or music to start when the toys on the string are tugged. The music is also very nice as it’s a melody of classical music.

One problem with this is the seat vibrations can cause the bluebird to make a rattle. It does not happen every time but can be alarming. The Flutterbye Dreams bouncer has been a great bouncer for us. We use it less now since our baby is becoming more mobile, and they do not recommend it for babies who can sit up. While not quite at that developmental stage yet, she is getting close. When babies can sit up by themselves, there is the risk that they will tip over the bouncer. The Flutterbye Dreams bouncer has been a lifesaver and a great source of entertainment for our baby.
