Review of 2006 Press Pass Football Cards

2006 Press Pass Football comes in hobby boxes that contain 28 packs. Each pack contains 4 cards. Press Pass is arguably the top product for college football collectors. All of the cards feature the 2006 rookies in their college uniforms. The Game Used Memorabilia cards also are pieces of their college uniforms which make this a terrific product for college football fans.

The base set for 2006 Press Pass Football features 50 of the top college football players from the 2005 college football season. The 50 card set includes 5 “Power Pick” Short Print cards. Fewer of these cards are made than the regular base cards. The “Power Pick” cards are inserted 1 out of every 14 packs. The cards are made of foil and are the final 5 cards in the 50 card set.

Every pack of 2006 Press Pass Football contains one card from the 33 card set Big Numbers. These cards are die-cut and are some of the nicest looking inserts around.

The insert set Paydirt features twelve of the top college football players from 2005 at finding the endzone. This is another card made of foil. The Paydirt insert cards are inserted 1 out of every 4 packs.

Every single one of the first 45 cards in the base set has a parallel card printed on holographic stock. These cards are called Reflectors which are sequentially numbered to 500. The base cards also have two other parallel versions. One is Reflectors Proof Edition which are sequentially numbered to 100. The other is SOLO which are true 1 of a kind cards. Only one SOLO card exists for each player.

Autograph cards are the main focus for 2006 Press Pass Football as everyone is trying to get their hands on a Reggie Bush, Matt Leinart, or Vince Young autograph. The autographs are inserted 1 out of every 7 packs on average. This means that every box should have 4. The autographs have the following versions:
Bronze: regular version, not numbered
Silver: sequentially numbered to 200
Gold: sequentially numbered to 100

There are also “red ink,” “nickname,” and “2005 Rookie Standouts” autographs randomly inserted.

The 5 Power Pick base cards each have an autographed version which is sequentially numbered to 250.

Jersey cards from 2006 Press Pass feature the college jerseys of some of the top players in the set. They are inserted 1 out of every 72 packs on average.

2006 Press Pass Football Cards are a great set for college football collectors. Many fans of professional football do not exactly like Press Pass because they consider it strictly a college football set, which is exactly what it is. It is a great box to open with a great chance to get a good autograph for a decent price. If you love college football, then this could be the product for you.
