Are You a Suffering Co-dependent?

Do you feel like the world is going to end if someone does not like you? Do you feel responsible for how other people feel? Does your mood depend on the mood of others? If you answered yes to any of these questions you are probably suffering from co-dependency.
Co-dependency is a sick relationship with the self. A co-dependent often tries to control, please, and/or fix others. Co-dependency is very common, but definately not limited to people brought up in alcoholic homes.
If you are still not sure whether you are co-dependent or not here are some more questions you can ask yourself:

1. Do you feel the need to solve other people’s problems?
2. Do you feel responsible for other people’s needs, wants, or actions?
3. Do you think other people’s opinions matter more than yours?
4. Do you put up with abusive relationships?
5. Do you feel bad accepting gifts?
6. Do you feel like you need to be with your spouse or friend at all times?
7. Does saying the word no make you feel guilty?
8. Do your relationships become overbearing?

If you are co-dependent you are probably in a lot of emotional pain. I am happy to tell you that there is hope for inner peace and healthy relationships. The first thing you must do is conceal to your inner most self that you are co-dependent. Next, you must understand that you are powerless over other people. Finally, you must become willing to treat the core of this problem. Don’t try to overcome this alone. Many people suffer from co-dependency, and with support from others they get well.
