It’s True, I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter…Spray

When I was first introduced to I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter Spray I was skeptical, and rightfully so, who has ever heard of butter in a spray plastic bottle. However once I took my first squirt I was hooked, now I laugh at those still using real butter to flavorize their toast and veggies.

If you’re on a diet and feel guilty about buttering up your toast, corn or whatever, you’ll love I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter Spray. This stuff has zero calories, zero grams of fat and basically zero everything. In 5 sprays there is 1% daily value of sodium, and that’s about as far as it goes. This may become a problem though as you become a higher level sprayer, as I use about 10-15 squirts per slice of toast.

Now I’ve been talking about toast a lot, but you can use I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter Spray on so many things. I spray this stuff all over my vegtable, and it really makes them taste good. Also, you can go ahead and butter up your pancakes and waffles with I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter Spray for an extra burst of flavor. You can also replace traditional butter on clams, instead of dipping them into pure fat, give them a sprits of I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter Spray and you’re good to go. On top of all this I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter Spray can be used for cooking as well as a topping.

Now, on the front of the bottle of I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter Spray, it says, “0 calories,” and “NO TRANS FAT” with an asterisk. Which may make you think there is a catch. And it does say, “See nutritional information for fat and saturated fat content.” So now you’re thinking there must be fat and saturated fat. This however is not the case. If you turn the I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter Spray bottle over, the nutritional facts state that the total fat, saturated fat, trans fat, cholesterol, total carb and protein are respective 0’s and 0% daily value. After all my years using I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter Spray I have never known why they say to read nutritional information, but alas, it is printed on the bottle.

Next to confuse you, from I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter Spray, the list of ingredients: water, liquid soy bean oil, salt, sweet cream buttermilk, xanthan gum, soy lecithin, polysorbate 60, lactic acid, (Potassium sorbate, calcium, disodium EDTA) used to protect quality, naturally and artificial flavors, vitamin A (palmitate), Beta Carotene (For color). … wow

So if you’re like me, you have no idea what half of those ingredients are, and you’re a little confused as to how the Unilever (the company that makes I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter Spray) uses liquid soybean oil, and sweet cream buttermilk and maintain their 0g of fat and saturated fat. My guess is it has something to do with the astrick on the front of the bottle.

The back-side of I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter Spray says, “Refrigerate for quality”, however it seems that when it is refrigerated for long periods of time, it becomes too thick, and the the pump to spray the “butter” doesn’t work as well as when it is room temperature.

So, next time you’re in the supermarket and you walk past the little yellow bottles of I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter Spray, give it a try, i think you’ll be pleasantly surprised.
