Buying Guide to Laptops, Monitors and Accessories

For some of us going to electronic stores can be fun when it means shopping for your new computer system, but for others it can be quite intimidating. I am here to take the guess work out of the mass line of products that you will be offered on your next shopping trip.

As fall approaches many of you will need to buy for the college years ahead, meaning that you will not only need to know the logistics of the product’s capability but also the cost as well.

The Newest and Most Popular Item
If you are only looking to upgrade your current monitor for a new hot style or because your old one is just way out dated and the images are dull, then I know just the one.

The best modelâÂ?¦ Flatron Slim Large 19 inch Monitor. This is by far the newest and coolest. So, here’s what you ask for: The LCD Flat Panel Monitor. It is ultra-fast; taking only 2 milli-seconds to upload an image. The picture has a life like quality, the detail is sharp and the colors are more vibrantly realistic. The LCD has an ultra-high 1600.1 contrast ratio. Best Buy also offers a 3 years swap warrantee with this product just in case you are not happy with your purchase, always ask about the warrantees as they are also a major part of the decision making process with electronics.
Many other monitors look great but the biggest consumer wish with these pieces is the superior digital images that it can display and the fast upload quality. So, don’t be fooled. There is literally a smorgasbord of flat screens available and most work exactly the same but will have a very high price on the tag.

Best in Laptops
The best Lap[top right now that has been selling well without problems or returns is the Hewlett Packard 17 inch. It runs for about $900 but that includes a great image, double memory, XP media center (2005 edition), reads and writes DVDs, 200 graphics, mobile technology, and 80g hard drive. There are many laptops exactly like this as far as all the features, but you will end up paying hundreds more. Beware of the pushy sales people that may try to convince you otherwise. Some laptops are a lot more expensive all because of the size of the screen, in which the difference isn’t that huge, maybe an inch or less.

Accessories and What you Need to Know
Webcams are probably the accessories that change the most with time. Although they change it is important to know that they ALL have the same functions as they did before. It is the biggest rip off in electronics today. Out of all the cams that I searched from big to small, black to silver, round to square, they all did the exact same things. There are very cheap ones that can facilitate your needs and they do range in size. However for about $50 to $100 dollars more, you can get one that rotatesâÂ?¦..hmmm, I am not sure why one would need that feature but it is there for those who don’t mind paying for it. Out of all the many different models none was rated best or worst, recalled or had a higher sales rate than any other according to the experts at Best Buy.

Keyboards are also very popular and most people go through them rather quickly depending on how often they use them and how rough they are. Out of all the many models out there in the vast technology terrain they all have the same functions as well. For instance, you can get a cheap rectangular key board for around $10-$20 at pretty much any store, BUT, some offer a keyboard that is rounded or oddly shaped with colored buttons. Nevertheless it is still a key board. No one keyboard is better than another. I have seen some range into the hundreds of dollars but the fact still remains the functions are no different. So, knowing this piece of information it is up to you want style you prefer and more importantly how much you will pay for that look.

The worst product to buy is the ‘Battery Back-Up Systems’. This is a squared block of electrical outlets rowed on each side for the various needs that your computer may have. Its main use is to allow the consumer to shut off their computer safely after a power outage. Now, this is a product that really dupes the unsuspecting person. The product allows you only a few seconds to shut down the computer after the outage. So, if you are out of the house at the time, your computer is not any safer than anyone else’s. If you are sleepingâÂ?¦ nope, it’s not any safer. These little gadgets cost anywhere from $50 to $80. Remember, before you buy- ask a lot of questions to find out if the product will work for you.

Gaming Options
If you are looking for the best gaming consoles it would have to be the Microsoft Xbox 360, with its amazing graphics and live internet playing. There are many reasons that it sells so well. The high quality graphics look life-like making it difficult to believe that it is merely a game. There are no more ruined cables from the players pulling when getting involved with the game as all the controls are wireless. That’s right they move where you move. But here’s the tip of the day for everyone looking to get a deal on these wireless pieces, only buy from that which your console is made. Microsoft (Xbox) or Sony (play stations) designs their accessories to last and work well with their consoles. The WORST wireless pad comes from ‘GameShark’, a third party distributor. The product that this company puts out that can sucker the innocent buyer is of the lowest quality around. It is so far the most returned item for breakage.

Mario Bros still has a great following for the younger crowd and now he too is portable on a new system. The Nintendo DS has a high sell rate also because of its on the go feature and because of the vast array of games that it can play to suit all ages.

So, there you have and thank you to the incredibly helpful and honest individuals at Best Buy for all their expertise in these fields. This concludes the best and worst of the “Buying Guide to Laptops, Monitors and Accessories”. Happy shopping
