God Bless America?

“America! America! God shed his grace on thee-And crown thy good with brotherhood from sea to shining sea.” From its inception as a superpower, the United States of America has withstood civil wars, world wars, and even slavery-yet it remains a formidable foe. For whatever reasons, America’s enemies opted to stay out of her way. As a reward for building her foundation on Judeo-Christian principles, it appeared that the God of Israel guarded America like an eagle guards her nest. To put it simply, we were blessed! Yet lately, it appears America’s enemies, Al-Queda, North Korea, and Iran, have seen fit to pronounce a curse upon this once blessed nation. What has happened to America’s hedge of protection?

To explain how America has fallen short of the glory of the good old days, one must understand the Doctrine of Balaam. When the Israelites left Egypt their reputation was so fierce as warriors that King Balak of Moab sought Balaam, a prophet of God to pronounce a curse upon the Israelites. When Balaam tried several times to curse them, God notified Balaam that he could not curse what God has blessed. So what did Balaam do? He counseled King Balak, the enemy of Israel that if he would give his most beautiful women to the men of Israel and cause them to commit adultery and idolatry that God Himself would curse Israel-this is called the Doctrine of Balaam (Numbers 31:16).

After sending the beautiful women of Moab into the camp of Israel, the men began committing sexual immorality with the women. Afterwards, God cursed the camp of Israel with a severe plague. I mention this story because America is currently in this exact situation. The only difference is that instead of our enemies sending “beautiful women” in our camp, we have citizens of our country, including the rulers (elected officials) embracing abortion, and same-sex marriage. Even some of the churches are following the evil Doctrine of Balaam by condoning and accepting sinful behavior.

On June 7th, 2006, the senate failed to pass a constitutional amendment defining marriage as consisting of a man and a woman. On June 19th, 2006, the U.S. Episcopal Church Bishop Katharine Jefferts Schori said she believed homosexuality was no sin and homosexuals were created by God to love people of the same sex. Schori claimed that the Bible was written in a very different historical context by people asking different questions. Schori’s comments are a fulfillment of Apostle Peter’s forewarnings on false teachers. Peter cautioned, “False teachers promise liberty from condemnation of sinful lust, but they themselves are not free” (2nd Peter 2:19). On June 20th, the Episcopal Church overwhelmingly refused to even consider a resolution that affirmed Jesus Christ as the “only name by which any person may be saved.” What in the world is going on? American churches now have a problem with the name of Jesus? I am not surprised by this recent demonic resolution. It is written that during the Last Days, “For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables” (2nd Timothy 4: 3-4).

When Israel began as a nation, God gave them certain commandments and statutes to follow. Those same commandments were applied to our nation when the forefathers conceptualized the United States of America. However, God warned: “But if you do not obey Me, and do not observe all these commandments, and if you despise My statutes, or if your soul abhors My judgments, so that you do not perform all My commandments, but break My covenant, I also will do this to you: I will even appoint terror over youâÂ?¦ I will set My face against you, and you shall be defeated by your enemies. Those who hate you shall reign over youâÂ?¦’And after all this, if you do not obey Me, then I will punish you seven times more for your sins. I will break the pride of your powerâÂ?¦” (Leviticus 26:14-19)

America it appears that due to our growing iniquity God has removed His hedge of protection from us and His grace is no longer upon this nation. Sadly, the bad news is that America’s worries of Al-Queda, Iran, and North Korea are only the beginning of our sorrows. BUT, the good news is the Lord assured us that, “If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” (2nd Chron. 7:14) How many more devastating calamites must take place within our country before we humble ourselves as a nation and seek forgiveness from God? Repent!

Woe unto you who sanction and condone the murder of innocent children still in the womb under the guise of freedom of choice! Woe unto you rulers who sit on the bench and pass sexually immoral laws against the Word of God under the guise of equality! Woe unto you churches who worship the dollar and lead your congregation into following the Doctrine of Balaam! For your time of judgment is near.
