Hotel Guide: Denver, Colorado

The City of Denver is the largest city and the capital of Colorado. So, you’ve found yourself in this wonderful city, known as “The Mile-High City” because its official elevation, measures on the fifteenth step of the state capital building’s west side, is one statue mile above sea level, which is 5,280 feet. But, as impressive as this city is, what is there to be said about their hotels? Well, there is a pleasant surprise when one researches their hotels, they have literally a plethora of AMAZING hotels. However, too much of a good thing can be bad, because that means you have to choose. Well, don’t worry, I have done the choosing for you, and have research and picked the top three hotels within Denver. So sit back, relax, and read on to find your perfect hotel.

The first hotel in which I reviewed is the historic landmark in the heart of downtown, Brown Palace Hotel & Spa. It seems, that any hotel that has the word “Palace” in it will be absolutely amazing, and this hotel has not let us down with that thought. The Brown Palace Hotel and Spa is located only one block from the 16th Street mall, mainly appeals to a mature, high-end traveling group who desires top-drawer service and modern amenities in a historical setting. But don’t worry, families can enjoy this amazing hotel as well. This hotel was originally built in 1892 in Denver’s financial and cultural districts, and is now only five blocks from the capitol and the convention center. The lobby draws visitors daily who want to see its eight-story atrium, a grand space ringed by 700-plus wrought iron grills from the third through seventh floors and capped by a stained-glass canopy. This nine-story triangle-shaped hotel has 241 bright guestrooms, which are decorated in a Victorian and Art Deco style. And in a rare find for a hotel of this class, complimentary wired Internet access is available for all guests. Two words describe this hotel – simply amazing.

The second hotel in which I reviewed is the Hotel Monaco Denver. This historic hotel is only one block from the 16th Street Mall and three blocks from LoDo; the Wynkoop Brewing Company, which is Colorado’s oldest brewpub. This seven-story hotel is housed in the 1917 Railway Exchange and the 1937 Art Moderne Title building. Guests – their pets, too – are greeted by Lili, the hotel’s resident Jack Russell terrier. This amazing dog often lounges in the lobby, an opulent space dominated by adorned ceiling painting to resemble the inside of a 19th-century hot air balloon. This hotel is elegant, yet, with its loose pet policy (no charge for pets), it is a great place to be pampered, and yet to soak up another dose of childhood. The Hotel Monaco has 189 guestrooms, in which all are appointed with custom-designed furnishings. Wireless and wired high-speed Internet access are complimentary for all guests. Did you forget your pet at home? No worries, guests seeking an additional guest can request a goldfish for the duration of their stay – a nice little treat.

And the last hotel in which I reviewed is the four-star Hotel Teatro. This Boutique hotel sits across from the performing arts center and is only two blocks from the 16th Street Mall and the convention center. This hotel attracts sophisticated vacationers and business travelers who appreciate its understated elegance and proximity to downtown hot spots. The lobby features two sitting areas, a fireplace, and walls lined with theatrical costumes and black-and-white photos from performances held across the street at the Denver Performing Arts Complex. This hotel has 111 guestrooms, all of which feature 12-foot-ceilings, gold or sage dÃ?©cor, and Indonesian sandstone foyers. And are you in the need to check your e-mail, well at the Hotel Teatro (which is Italian for “Theater”), high-speed Internet access is available at a surcharge.
