NFL: Fantasy Football: Ranking the Top 10 Wide Receivers
10. Hines Ward – Pittsburgh Steelers
Hines Ward is an elite receiver in the NFL, but not the best choice as a starting receiver for your fantasy football team. Without a proven second receiver on the Steelers offense, Ward may get double teamed more often. We also do not know the mental state of quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and how he will respond after seriously hurting himself this summer. Hines Ward should have a good 2006-2007 season, but you should look for another option at receiver for your fantasy football team.
9. Anquan Boldin – Arizona Cardinals
The addition of running back Edgerrin James will take the pressure off of quarterback Kurt Warner and the wide receivers. Defenders will no longer be able to commit solely to the passing game anymore. Anquan Bolden is a great choice because of the defensive adjustments. Bolden had a pro-bowl type year in 2005 and should excel this upcoming season. Pay close attention to Kurt Warner. He is the key to the success of the wide receivers.
8. Santana Moss – Washington Redskins
In 2005, Santana Moss put himself back on the map after making over 1400 yards in receiving and scoring 9 touchdowns. Whoever had Moss on their fantasy football team last year was one happy team owner. However, the additions of receivers Antwaan Randle-El and Brandon Lloyd may drop the total number of times Santana Moss touches the football.
7. Randy Moss – Oakland Raiders
Randy was plagued with injuries last season and his stats for 2005 was less than impressive. This upcoming season should be better for Moss if he can stay healthy. There is no way that anyone can count out raw talented players like Randy Moss forever.
6. Torry Holt – St. Louis Rams
Torry “Big Game” Holt is a good choice for a starter on your fantasy football team. He has constantly made plays on a team that has been less than remarkable the last couple of years.
5. Marvin Harrison – Indianapolis Colts
Every season, I always end up with Harrison on my team and he has not disappointed me yet. With Peyton Manning Throwing the ball to Harrison, it is a guarantee that he will have a great season.
4. Larry Fitzgerald – Arizona Cardinals
I am going to seriously try to get Fitzgerald on my Fantasy football team this season. After watching him play in 2005, I was very impressed by his athletic ability and his determination to get his hands on the football.
3. Steve Smith – Carolina Panthers
Steve Smith was the one of the best wide receivers in football last season and will be looking to finish where he left off. Keyshawn Johnson is a good secondary receiver that will take some of the load off of Smith this season.
2. Terrell Owens – Dallas Cowboys
Hate him all you want, but draft him on your fantasy football team. He is a fantasy team owners dream because you get all of the reward from his play and do not have listen to him unless you tune into ESPN. Owens is one of the few receivers that I would consider ranking number one overall.
1. Chad Johnson – Cincinnati Bengals
He talks a good game, and backs it up. Like T.O, I would definitely consider ranking Chad Johnson number one overall in the pre-draft rankings. The difference between Chad and Terrell is the quarterbacks throwing the ball to them. Carson Palmer throwing to Chad Johnson is way better than Bledsode throwing to Terrell Owens.
