Hotel Guide: Kansas City, MO

Kansas City, Missouri. When one thinks about this town, there are several things that pop into their mind – first and foremost is their bar-b-que. This, now national, favorite was basically born in this amazing town. There are many different reasons why people are flocking to this now-famous city. The Globalization and World Cities Study Group and Network, recently designated Kansas City as having potential of attaining world city statues. Also, the city’s tap water was recently rated the cleanest among the 50 largest cities in the United States. So, there is no question to why people are coming to Kansas City, however, the only question on everyone’s mind is: Where are we going to stay? Well, Kansas City is as known for having a grand selection of hotels, and I have reviewed the top three of these hotels. So grab a drop-cloth for the bar-b-que, and read on to find the perfect hotel!

The first hotel in which I reviewed is the Raphael Hotel. This historic hotel was built in 1927, and it’s understated elegance of this amazingly beautiful boutique hotel is appreciated by business and leisure travelers alike. This nine-story hotel contains rich mahogany paneling in the lobby, where complimentary coffee and newspapers are available every day. Some of the hotels more notable amenities include both aesthetic and practical sectors. Aesthetically speaking, the hotel is outfitted with antiques, original artwork by local artists, and reproductions of work by Raphael. Other amenities include complimentary wireless Internet access throughout the entire hotel. There are 123 rooms in the Raphael Hotel, all of which were originally apartments. Also, all rooms come complete with complimentary high-speed Internet access, a desk and an ergonomic chair.

The second hotel in which I reviewed is the Hyatt Regency Crown Center. This high-rise hotel is adjacent to the Crown Center. Guests of this high-rise Hyatt are greeted by a spacious atrium lobby with fountain, grand piano, abundant greenery, and natural lighting. Adjacent to the Crown Center entertainment complex and two blocks from historic Union Station, the hotel is 1.5 miles from the Bartle Hall convention center. Some of the various amenity highlights include an indoor-outdoor pool and a health club completely outfitted with a spa tub, sauna, and a range of cardiovascular equipment. Wireless Internet access is available throughout the hotel for a surcharge. This 42-story Kansas city hotel has 732 guestrooms, all of which offer Hyatt Grand Beds with pillow top mattresses. Several other amenities include wireless high-speed Internet access, which has a surcharge for usage, minibars, premium channels, and a complimentary daily newspaper.

And the last hotel in which I reviewed is the Hotel Phillips. This four star hotel is located within the banking district of Kansas City. Business travelers specializing in banking matters love this hotel due to its location to the nearby H&R Block world headquarters. Everyone, however, loves the look of this classic 1930s hotel near the convention center. When one enters the lobby of the Hotel Phillips, they are immediately greeted by an 11-foot gold statue of Dawn, the winged goddess of the stars., as well as a plethora of floral arrangements, art deco furnishings, and original crown molding. The Hotel Phillips has 217 rooms. All rooms have high-speed Internet access for a surcharge. Several other amenities include bathrobes and Aveda toiletries, and all rooms have 21-inch televisions.
