Alpha & Omega

If frost can be reassuring
Than my former heart was sincere
With ice-laced designs
Cracked and austere
But heat and rain have washed away lines
Here with youat the dawn of a new year

Sometimes love is mortal
Proven only by the space of years
Blooming from Spring’s comfortable rest
Not strong enough to survive Winter’s test

But the merciful snows of December
Cold and stiff
Cover all of Summer’s perishing lovers-a martyr’s gift

And when the moon touches here below
Bleeding pale light on death’s window
Please understand, my friend
Some beginnings have no end
