Neutrogena Triple Moisture Deep Recovery Mask vs Color Smart by Matrix Protective Luminating System, Intensive Masque

A good deep conditioning hair mask is a great way to add moisture to dry or damaged hair. Under the recommendation of my hair stylist I decided to try the Matrix Protective Luminating System, Intensive Masque. It is a salon quality hair mask that is meant to provide high levels of moisture to dry hair, repair porous damage area so hair, and help your hair retain color longer. I do have to say that I have super dry hair and almost always willing to try a new product if it can help my hair to become stronger and healthier. My hair has also been going gray since I was in my early twenties, which also makes it coarser. It also has a tendency to lose hair color faster because of this as well. Although the Color Smart by Matrix Protective Luminating System, Intensive Masque was recommended to me by my hairdresser, when I ran out I decided to try the Neutrogena Triple Moisture Deep Recovery Mask. It was conveniently located in my grocery store and I couldn’t resist.

Moisture

The Color Smart by Matrix Protective Luminating System, Intensive Masque is a great quality product that most definitley had better moisturizing qualities when compared to the Neutrogena Triple Moisture Deep Recovery Mask. I sort of expected this, but I have used many Neutrogena products and have found quite a few of them to be really worthwhile investments. Unfortunately I do not think that the Neutrogena Triple Moisture Deep Recovery Mask is one of them. It was nice and thick and better then an everyday conditioner, but the whole point of a mask for you hair is to provide a weekly deep conditioning treatment for dry hair. The Neutrogena Triple Moisture Deep Recovery Mask just did not moisturize as well as the Color Smart by Matrix Protective Luminating System. Both products applied in exactly the same manner. Once you shampooed your hair you apply the deep conditioning mask to clean wet hair. Next you let it soak in for 3 to 5 minutes and then rinsed out as normal. My hair felt stronger and softer even while wet with the Color Smart by Matrix Protective Luminating System. I thought I would be saving a little money buying the Neutrogena Triple Moisture Deep Recovery Mask, but I had to use twice as much of it to really coat my hair. A bottle of Neutrogena Triple Moisture Deep Recovery Mask will cost you about $7 and a bottle of Color Smart by Matrix Protective Luminating System will cost you about $17.50, so for me it evened out. I think it would be better to just buy the more expensive mask and use less.

Repair Damage?

I do believe that the Color Smart by Matrix Protective Luminating System helped moisturize and repair my hair, which is why I decided to continue trying a deep conditioning mask. I should have stuck with the original product though. The Neutrogena Triple Moisture Deep Recovery Mask. Did moisturize my hair, but I did not feel too much of a difference from my everyday conditioner.

Color Protection

UV protective is a great feature of any deep conditioning hair mask. It one for the keep features that can keep your hair color from fading. Even on a cloudy day UVA and UVB rays can damage your hair. My favorite feature of the Color Smart by Matrix Protective Luminating System is that it has free radical and UV protection to help fight fading hair color. I used this product three times during the week I was at the beach this year. My hair did not suffer from the usual tangles and I think my color held up very well. Naturally I have brown hair and I get it colored brown to cover gray parts. There have been many times when my hair was exposed to the sun that it turned brassy and reddish in color. That did not happen this year and I think it thanks to the Color Smart by Matrix Protective Luminating System.

Overall I have to say that the Color Smart by Matrix Protective Luminating System is a better hair conditioning mask when compared to the Neutrogena Triple Moisture Deep Recovery Mask. It goes on thicker, moisturizes better, and was well worth the money.
