Some people have been wondering, for a while now, if it is worth upgrading. Truth be told, the upgrade is definitely worth it because there are at least ten things that you can accomplish with the latest version of Photoshop that you could not do, or would have a very hard time, doing with the previous version. Some of these things include:

1. You can maneuver the various objects within the Adobe Bridge, thus enabling yourself to view artwork and photographs in detail. It also enables you to open the file and process multiple Camera Raw images. You can flip through the pages in PDF documents. Also, you can size, rate and organize your work in a manner that is both convenient and user-friendly. This far outdoes the File Browser, something that Photoshop 7 introduced.

2. There is also something called the Spot Healing Brush. You can use this to do away with imperfections such as scratchesor dust simply by clicking the mouse. This is different from the Healing Brush because with the Spot Healing Brush you do not have to locate a source point before correcting the imperfection.

3. You can get rid of “red eye” instantaneously. While the previous versions of Photoshop required you to go through a somewhat lengthy process, you can now easily remove red eye simply by clicking on the Red Eye removal tool.

4. You can now do scaling in a non-destructive manner, thanks to the Smart Objects tool. Now, if you have ever tried to enlarge an imported object, you know how it would go blurry and become pixilated. With this new tool you are able to scale, warp and rotate your vector graphics in a way that is non-destructive.

5. You can use the new Vanishing Point feature to do some really neat things. This tool allows you to do your cutting and pasting in perspective, which means that, for example, you can change a picture of a wall into a “virtual art gallery.” The pictures in this “virtual art gallery” can all be correctly skewed. You can also take a window from one side of the building and move it to another side of the building if you wanted to. Since the perspective will be correct your window will look as though it was always there.

6. You can print out your work, in color, with greater accuracy. This is easy to do.

7. You can customize your workspace and create menus that are easy for you to use. All you have to do is highlight the menu items that you most commonly use and this will allow you to set up you own personalized menus and workspaces. This literally puts all of the power of Photoshop directly within the reach of your fingertips and tailors Photoshop in such a way that it will meet your own personal requirements.

8. Now, before deciding what font to use, you can now see what it looks like. Photoshop finally has a WYSIWYG menu so that you do no longer have to keep your text highlighted while cycling through all of the different fonts, searching for the perfect one to use.

9. You can use Image Warp to manipulate your images. With this tool you can bend, stretch and peel your images so that you can easily put them onto a mug if you want to.

10. You can see what your video graphics are going to look like while you are creating them. This is great for video professionals since it means that they will no longer have to wait until the .psd file is imported into their Avid timeline to find out that it doesn’t look as fantastic as it had on a flat screen. This will also help to cut down on their editing time since they can now preview their images on a vide monitor and see exactly how the image is going to appear in their video.

With all of these neat tools added into the latest version of Photoshop, the upgrade is well worth the cost. There are so many things that keep being added to this software that continues to make it an even more powerful tool. I highly recommend upgrading your software today.
