Ten Reasons Why You Should Not Buy Brand Name Products

Some people may think store brand products are inferior. That they must buy brand name products in order to get good quality, but this just isn’t so. In fact, there are 10 reasons why you should not buy brand name products.

1. Brand name products are overpriced. The price isn’t always reflected by the quality of the product, but simply the name. For example, you’ll pay twice as much for Nyquil than you will for the Equate brand at Wal-Mart, and they have the same active ingredients.

2. When buying groceries some people are stuck to certain brand name products. They refuse to try store brands, determined that they won’t taste as good. In reality the taste s usually quite similar, sometimes better.

3. Depending on where you shop, certain brand name products may not be available. This happens a lot when you move to another area. Some companies only sell their products in certain regions, forcing you to have do without or try a store brand.

4. The manufactures of brand name products are beyond wealthy and most do nothing to help the people of this country. Smaller companies who make generic brands and stores often do things to help their communities. So help the little guy help other little people.

5. Most people don’t take the time to read the ingredients in their favorite brand name products. When it comes to things like medication, you will find that store brands and brand name products have the same active ingredients, the only difference is the price.

6. You may think the brand name product is the best there is. This isn’t always true. Sometimes store brand products are better. For example, Wal-Mart’s version of Rice-a-Roni tastes better than the real thing. Of course how will you ever know if a product is better if you don’t try the store brand product?

7. The manufacturers of brand name products spend thousands on the packaging of their products. The spend hours and hours with marketing firms determining which package will catch your eye. The money spent on marketing is considered when setting a price on the end product. This means you’ll have to spend more money to get that brand name product. Store brands spend a lot less on marketing and packaging so that you’ll save money when you buy their products.

8. Sure the manufactures of brand name products have promotions, but you’ll be competing with thousands of other people. When stores have promotions, you’ll often save money just for buying their products. For example, buy 6 store brand products and save $6. Everyone wins with that type of promotion.

9. Sometimes store brand products are more effective than the brand name products. I’ve found several store brand cleaners that are much more effective than their brand name counterparts, while costing a small fraction of what the brand name product costs. For example, the Wal-Mart brand all purpose cleaner is more effective than Easy Off Bam.

10. The manufactures of brand name products rush their products to the market without doing the proper research. You hear much more about brand name products begin recalled than store brands. For example, Tylenol had to recall their Children’s Meltaways, because they didn’t take enough time with the packaging and it was thought to be confusing and might lead to overdose.

There you have it. Why spend more on brand name products when they contain the same ingredients, taste the same, and are sometimes less effective than the store brands? Try a store brand of your favorite product, the worst that will happen is that you’ll have wasted a couple bucks, big deal.
