PSP Download Service Details Emerge

Izumi Kawanishi, Sony Japan’s head of platform development, revealed that the PSP download service announced at E3 2006 will launch alongside the Playstation 3 this fall reports GamesIndustry.biz. The service will operate through both the Playstation 3 and Wi-Fi enabled PCs and will allow PSP users to download original Playstation games as well as movies. Sony hasn’t fared well in the download distribution market in the past, their Apple iTunes competitor Sony Connect being recognized as a failure by consumers and business analysts alike. Details regarding the download service should be announced later this month at the Tokyo Game Show.
