Grapefest Expands Its Offerings

The Grapevine Historic area in Texas will again play host to the annual Grapefest through Sept. 10th.

The event, which started Sept. 7th at the Main Street District, 400 Main Street in Grapevine, will be open Friday-Saturday, 10 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The event is free after 5:00 Saturday and Sunday. Admission is $6; $3 for seniors and kids 6-12, free for children five and under. Passes are $10 for a weekend pass, $15 for souvenir weekend passes, and $15 for family passes.

According to the Dallas Morning News, Grapefest has come a long way since its beginning.

You can put your best foot forward and squish grapes with your toes while standing in a barrel experiencing how purple is the color of fun.

Or beat the Grape Guy, Steve Spalding at a grape-catching event and take a shot at winning a trip to Cancun.

Kids and adults can take a ride aboard the Grapefest Express, the festival version of the Grapevine Vintage Railroad pulled by an 1896 steam locomotive called Puffy.

Go global and let your eclectic tastes lead you beyond the abundance of the Lone Star State to offerings from other areas.

Sports fans can catch some tennis action at the 15th Annual Grapefest Tennis Classic, a U.S. Tennis Association-sanctioned event hosted by the city and shoppers can browse in the town’s historic downtown, home to restaurants, galleries, and one-of-a-kind stores.

Kids can play at the KidZone on Main between Texas and Wall Streets and car enthusiasts can check out the Muscle Car Exhibition presented by Unique Performance, featuring American brawn, including a Shelby “Eleanor” G.T. 500E and a Foose Ã?¯Ã?¿Ã?½69 Camaro.

Italian car fans can admire a show with renowned designer Tom Tjarada headlining the Italian Carfest, featuring about 150 European beauties, including a Maserati MC12.

There will be plenty of refreshments like corn dogs, funnel cakes, and kettle corn, much like the state fair.

For those with a love for amusement parks, check out the carnival rides and midway games like the Kamikaze ride.

Artist Randy Leo Frechette will create paintings of music and other activities at the fest Friday till 11:30 p.m. and Saturday 2-11:30 p.m. and artist Don Beck will have demos Friday and Saturday 7-9 p.m. and Sunday 4-6 p.m. at Vetro Glassblowing Studio and Art Glass Gallery, 701 Main Street.
