The Top Shopping Centers in San Diego

Make no mistake, The Finest City In America also has some of the finest shopping centers beginning just a few miles from arrival from the San Diego International Airport Lindberg Field, or from the harbor should one be disembarking from one of the many cruise ships that arrive at the port of San Diego regularly. Some of the top shopping centers in San Diego are just minutes from the airport and even within walking distance of the cruise ships.

First stop Westfield Horton Plaza downtown San Diego located at 324 Horton Plaza. Visit Horton Plaza and you will see why it is one of the top shopping centers in San Diego. This is one of the most unique pieces of architecture downtown San Diego among its other magnificent buildings. A visual delight, this is a must visit while in the city. The shopping plaza is seven levels and encompasses 6 Ã?½ city blocks. The buildings are a combination of pastel and primary colors waving intricately throughout the space it occupies. The parking facility is no exception. Aside from the fabulous architecture and the ambiance of the area one will find some of the most popular stores. To name a few of the 188 restaurants, boutiques and bistros are the likes of Victoria’s Secret, Pacific Eyes & T’s, BCBG, 24 Hour Fitness, Coach, Da Vinci, Louis Vuitton, Bebe, Macy’s and many others that occupy this prime real estate in downtown San Diego. There is also a Westin Hotel at Horton Plaza for those who want to stay midst the buzz of downtown and excitement of the shopping center. Being one of the top shopping centers and located downtown Horton Plaza is readily accessible by means of trolley or city buses and even walking distance from where the cruise ships embark for those that are adventurous and choose to get a little exercise, making it extremely convenient. While visiting stop at Napa Valley Grille and sample the fare. Parking is not the easiest within the parking structure so do use care in maneuvering the garage. Also remember to take advantage of two hours free parking by having your ticket validated wherever you should shop or dine. Hours of operation are 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Sundays. For further information the phone number is 619-239-8180.

Next stop is Fashion Valley Center located at 7007 Friars Road in the Mission Valley area of San Diego about fifteen to twenty minutes north of the airport and east of Interstate 5, at the Interstate 163 exit at Friar’s Road West. This is one of my favorite shopping centers and it is one of the top upscale outdoor shopping centers in San Diego. It houses 200 stores and restaurants and many upscale stores such as Tiffany, Louis Vuitton, Neiman Marcus, Burberry, Max Mara and Hugo Boss. It is pretty obvious why this is one of the top shopping centers in San Diego based on the businesses occupying the space. This very chic shopping center has something for everyone with a numerous selection of shops and eateries. It is the perfect shopping center to power shop, relax, chill out, shop some more and then catch a movie at the cinema in the center. Fashion Valley Center is a must visit when in San Diego. Parking is fairly uncomplicated at this shopping center. Hours of operation are 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. Monday through Saturday and 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Sundays. What is a visit to a fine city like San Diego without visiting one of the top shopping centers in San Diego that falls in the outlet mall category? With outlet mall prices and designer boutique environment this is a must for visitors and locals alike. For those wanting to venture out and take a road trip up North, there lies near the strawberry fields in the beautiful community of Carlsbad the Carlsbad Premium Outlet Mall located at 5620 Paseo del Norte, suite 100, located between Palomar Airport Road and Cannon Road off of interstate 5. The stores are visible from the interstate and very easily accessible. Truly a premium outlet mall it houses shops such as Barneys New York, Coach, Brooks Brothers, Crate & Barrel, The Gap, Nine West, Kaspar ASL, Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory and many others. This very unique open-air mall is so likened to the vibe of Southern California and being within ten minutes of several beaches puts the finishing touches on the whirlwind shopping tour. What I really like about this mall is even though it has a great variety of stores; it still maintains its quaintness and is easyily accessible from the interstate. Parking is also very convenient. The Carlsbad Premium Outlet Mall is open 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. daily. For further information the phone number is 760-804-9000.

No matter your taste or your style, you will invariably find what you want at the price you want among these three top shopping centers in San Diego. If by chance you don’t find anything to buy, while on your journey you will still have caught some Southern California sunshine free of charge! Happy shopping.
