Top Restaurants in Weirton

Hungry in Weirton?

Weirton, WV is a small town located in the northern panhandle of West Virginia. Located 35 miles west of Pittsburgh, Weirton spans the width of the northern panhandle of WV, and touches the borders of both Ohio and Pennsylvania. Weirton has a population of approximately 20,000 people. For a small town, Weirton has some great places to eat. The following restaurants are all staples of my diet.

Here are the best places to eat in Weirton aka THE TON.

1) Dee Jay’s
380 Three Springs Drive
Weirton, WV
Ph 304.748.1150

Do you like ribs? Think about the best ribs you’ve ever tasted, Dee Jay’s are better. I’ve been to several rib contests, and I’ve eaten at a restaurant in Florida that claims to have the best ribs in the country, but they don’t compare. In my mind, it’s not even close. I don’t even need a menu when I go to Dee Jay’s, because I don’t go there to eat anything else. Other menu items include burgers, seafood, and chicken. I’ve been told that the salmon is excellent as well, but honestly I couldn’t say for myself.

The atmosphere at Dee Jay’s is similar to an Outback Steakhouse hosting a Jimmy Buffet concert. Dee Jay’s has this beach vibe going. Their logo has palm tree on it, which I never really understood being that only body of water in Weirton is the Ohio River, but hey you can’t beat the ribs! They have a small bar located on the left side of the restaurant, which is basically a good place to kill time if you are waiting for a table.

Seriously though, you want to check out their ribs.

2) Mario’s & DiCarlo’s
3806 Main St
Weirton, WV 26062
Ph 304.748.1179 (Mario’s) 304.748.0148 (DiCarlo’s)

Mario’s & DiCarlo’s are two separate restaurants located in the same building. They share ownership. Mario’s is an Italian restaurant, and DiCarlo’s is the pizza joint.

Mario’s is your traditional Italian restaurant. They serve a bunch of pasta dishes including: homemade spaghetti, ravioli, lasagna, and gnocchi. I love the gnocchi. They also have chicken, steak, and sandwiches on the menu. Mario’s is a very affordable restaurant with great food. Their portions are also huge. Be sure to bring your appetite with you if you visit Mario’s.

The DiCarlo name and pizza are synonymous throughout the Ohio Valley. There are DiCarlo’s Pizza shops all over West Virginia and Ohio. More than one of them, claims to be the original, so I’m not really sure which one is truly the original. However, I am assured that they have great pizza. DiCarlo’s is not your typical pizza shop in 2006. For one thing, they don’t deliver. They don’t need to. Second, they don’t cook their toppings. They cook pans of bread and sauce, and then add the cheese and pepperoni after the pans are pulled from the ovens. It sounds odd, but trust me it tastes good. I order so much pizza from them, that some of their employees recognize my voice whenever I call in.

3) Dragon’s Palace
271 Penco Rd
Weirton, WV 26062
Ph 304.723.5390

Want some good Chinese food quick? Check out the Dragon’s Palace. Regardless of the size of your order, it will almost inevitably be ready in 10 to15 minutes. In addition to their quick take-out, the Dragon’s Palace is also a sit-down restaurant. The Palace has a variety of oriental dishes including chicken, pork, shrimp, and beef. My personal favorite is the Sweet N Sour Chicken. I usually get it in one of their combination platters which includes fried rice and an egg roll. They have a spicier version of General Tso’s Chicken that I also enjoy. The Dragon’s Palace has large portions as well.

These are my personal favorite restaurants in Weirton. I eat at all 3 of these restaurants religiously. As I finish this article at 2:06 a.m., I sit here wishing that at least one of these places were open. I wouldn’t be eating this microwavable macaroni if any of them were.
