Tommy Haas, the German star has reached the fourth round of US open after a marathon match with Robby Ginepri. Tennis fans all over are now looking at him for more surprises. Haas defeated Alex Kuznetsov in the first round 6-2 6-4 6-0, Safin defeated Robin Vik 6-1 6-1 3-6 6-3. First round was not as easy for Safin as it was for Haas. But Safin scored an important victory by defeating the strong David Nalbandian in second round, who is fourth seeded, in a marathon match decided by a tie-breaker in 6-3 7-5 2-6 3-6 7-6 (tie break 8-6).

Haas repeated the match he played against Robby Ginepri, where he was able to hang on and bring on his best game, he defeated Safin 4-6 6-3 2-6 6-2 7-6( tie break 7-5. But sadly Haas lost the quarter final game to Nicolay Davydenko 6-4 7-6 3-6 4-6 4-6.

Although Tommy Haas was uanble to win this year’s US Open, his ranking will improve because he was able to reach the quarter finals and his improved game shows that he is ready to compete for the top position in the upcoming tournaments.
