Traveling to Jolly Olde England

So you have decided to make a great decision and go to that country that everybody talks about England. The home of Soccer, David Beckham, Hugh Grant and the Queen. So what do you need to know before you go over there and have an adventure? Here are a few myths about the United Kingdom, UK, Britain or even England. 1. Yes we do have cars and not just horses. 2. It DOES NOT rain all the time. Now that is out of the way we can get down to a few home truths. Money. The English use the currency Pounds. The increments are as follows. 1p, 2p, 5p, 10p, 20p, 50, 1 pound, 5 pounds, 10 pounds, 20 pounds and 50 pounds. There is no real good place to convert your dollars to pounds except DO NOT CHANGE THEM IN A UNITED STATES BANK OR THE AIRPORT. The banks rip you off over here. Find a travel agent where you are staying to convert them. There are usually a number of them in a high street and spend a little time going to each one to find the best deal. As always you do lose quite a few dollars when you exchange. It is best to save up as much as you can when you go over.

Choosing the best time to go over is always difficult but if you want warm sunny weather try for April to August. If you want to see all the get up of Christmas go November to January. You will see all the Christmas lights and London shows. When I tend to go I go with British Airways on a non-stop flight. British Airways is probably the best to fly with, and I have been on many airlines. The staff is very friendly, check-in time is good, they NEVER loose luggage and the seats are really roomy and comfortable.

There is a lot of different cuisine in the UK. Ranging from fast food to fine dining. Indian to Japanese. Try it! A lot of Americans get stuck in there ways of Burgers and Southern food. You do not know what you are missing, really! Public transport is really easy to get around with, buses, taxis, rent a cars, bicycles and more. The idea of London is great! There is a lot to do and wonderful nightlife. Of course there is the Tower of London, Buckingham Palace, The Queen, Trafalgar Square and more. Also a wonderful place called Brighton. Club capital of Europe. My main recommendation is review some of these places, local Hotels, eating places, nightlife and attractions.

One major thing about the UK is you can drive to Dover and purchase a ticket on the Channel Tunnel train. This is very easy if you want to see more of Europe. You can rent a vehicle with a policy which allows you to drive to Europe. That’s right! Drive! Down the motorway (interstate), drive onto the train, 35 minute journey and you will drive straight on to the French interstate.

All in all this is a brief guide designed to get you to research this destination and all it has to offer. I reside now in Alabama but was born in south London. It is worth traveling to England or another country so you get to taste other cultures, yummy!
