The Dillard House Conference Center

I had the pleasure of staying at The Dillard House this weekend for a Ladies Retreat. I found the stay to be pleasurable. The address of The Dillard House is U.S. 441 Dillard, Ga 30537. Phone: (706) 746-5348

*When reading my review, please keep in mind that I am not particularly fond of country atmospheres in general. I prefer accommodations that have not resemblance to anything rustic.

The Dillard House offers:

The Dillard house offers corporate guests the “opportunity to get away from the hustle and bustle of the urban environment.” The “out-of-the-city getaway (is) the perfect spot for developing teamwork and understanding between management and staff. The Dillard House can create staff development and enrichment programs including exciting whitewater adventures on the Nantahala and Chattooga riversâÂ?¦ The outdoor environment is our “action learning” classroom and enables us to work with your staff in exciting and innovative ways to capitalize on their individual and team potential.”

Guest rooms at the Dillard House:

We stayed in the Motel rooms, which were surrounded by horse stables. As far as motels go, the room was excellent. It was very spacious with two queen sized beds, cable televisions, and an adequate bathroom. There was also a small refrigerator and microwave in the room. As conference guests, our stay was less than $80.00 for Friday 3pm check in and 11am checkout with two meetings.

Everything was very clean, but the age of the facilities was obvious due to a few permanent stains. Especially in the bathroom.

Conference rooms at the Dillard House:

We used a small conference room for our group of about 120 women. We were a bit inconvenienced our meeting time as the only restrooms in the building were through a room where another group was having a meeting we could not disturb. The staff provided restrooms in a nearby bathroom.

Our room had some audio issues. Our group organizer was told that we would not need speakers because the room was acoustically built. Needless to say, we had a hard time hearing the speaker. The meeting organizer also mentioned a few other minor problems and unexpected charges and were not entirely happy.

Service at the Dillard House:

Outside of the restaurant (which I have reviewed separately), we had little contact with staff. The staff members we did encounter were friendly and polite.

The grounds at the Dillard House:

Though a country setting in not necessarily my style, I found the setting to be beautiful, peaceful, and relaxing. The horses were beautiful and well kept, and I enjoyed picking a few apples and pears from trees on the grounds (with the manager’s permission, of course.)
