Top Ten Songs by Danity Kane
For those of you that missed Making The Band 3, I’ll fill you in. MTV’s reality show Making The Band followed Diddy in his search for women to assemble a new band. The show followed hundreds of women as they tried out for a chance to make it to the house, a beautifully decorated home away from home. It wasn’t all easy though. The women had to continually prove themselves as talented singers and dancers, and always have the fear of being sent home. Ask the contestants and they will tell you the dedication and hard work was well worth the effort. The prize, the chance to record an album for Diddy’s Bad Boy label.
After the first season of Making The Band 3, fans and contestants were disappointed to learn that Diddy was not ready to make his band. He wanted to search for more talent. This made many women happy, allowing them to audition for the coveted role. The second time around the women had to run, dance, sing, and work unbelievably hard. At the season end, Diddy announced his new quartet: Aubrey, Aundrea, Dawn, D. Woods, and Shannon. The women were chosen for their amazing talent as singers and dancers, beautiful looks, magnificent persona, and the very evident ability to perform under extreme pressure. This, coupled with the life long dreams these women have had, will undoubtedly produce great sounds for the Bad Boy label.
The third go around for Making The Band 3 followed the new group as they recorded their album and shot their first video as Danity Kane. Audiences were given a behind the scenes look at the record studio and the set of the video for Showstopper.
Danity Kane? Where did that come from? Apparently Dawn is not only a talented singer and dancer, she can also draw. One day the group was in the studio and, during a little bit of down time, Dawn was drawing an anime superhero. This illustration caught Diddy’s eye so he asked Dawn what she called it. The female superhero was named Danity Kane. Everyone agreed on the name, thus the name for the band was created.
Danity Kane’s self titled album is their first and only album thus far. Amazingly, the album debuted number one on the SoundScan/ Billboard 200 album chart. Quite an accomplishment for these ladies, who are definitely more than pretty faces. It is a mix of hip-hop, R&B, and a little pop. The album features fourteen songs, and here is a list of Danity Kane’s top ten songs so far.
1. Showstopper The first song on the list is my absolute favorite. Showstopper (number five on the album) has an electrifying beat and great lyrics. The song follows a group of girls out on the town in their “Rainbow Cadillac”. The song also makes references to their “Bad Boy Video”. The catchy beat and hot video shows off all of the talents of the group. The song also features label mate Young Joc.
2. One Shot This song sums it all up for the group. The opportunity to be on Making The Band 3 was their One Shot to prove to Diddy that they have what it takes. This is another up beat and catchy song.
3. Ooh Ahh Ok, this song is HOT! It really shows off the vocal talents of the women.
4. Ride For You This is another one of my personal favorites. It has a great flow and a lot of bass. This is the kind of song that you listen to all of the words. It has a great hip-hop beat and it’s a little mushy.
5. Heartbreaker Another great title for a song by Danity Kane. Each of these beautiful women has the ability to be a true Heartbreaker. Once again, the talent of these women is shown off Diddy style.
