Top 15 “Must Have” Fall Fashion Trends
#1-Accessorize: fun, funky, long, layered beaded jewelry. You can jazz up any old outfit with a great necklace and earrings.

#2-It’s all in the bag: big, small, or clutch. Just like jewelry the bag can set off the perfect look. Moc-croc, pleather, leather, and colorful patchwork are in. Try them in any size, in soft unstructed fabric, with hardware or ruching, and go with rich vibrant colors. So goodbye to hobo chic.

#3-Faux…fur that is. From bags to coats, faux fur is back. Unless you are Kate Moss, I would stick to fur trims. Too much of this look could have you mistaken for big foot.

#4-boots galore: from knee high to ankle, stiletto to platform and wedge. Boots of all sorts are in. The most popular are ankle, jeans in boot (mid calf to knee), lace-up (favorite of Sinna Miller wearing Stella McCartney), suede scrunch (Eva Longoria in Coach), and the military buckle boot ( Jessica Alba has been rocking them in the designer Fiorentini&Baker ).

#5-Platform or flats: you can retire those painful pointy stilettos for a thicker, wider heel and round toe platform. Try them in patent leather or suede. As for the flats, go with the ballets. Try them in any color, print, or style. Embellishments and bows are the best.

#6-Say hello to the 80’s once again: leggings and the skinny jean are back. leggings can be worn under long tunics, dresses, or skirts, try them in funky patterns and all colors. Word of caution do not wear them with anything shorter than mid thigh. It doesn’t matter how great your body is, no one wants to see that walking down the street. As for the skinny jean, pair them with a great platform or cute ballet flat. The skinny jean is not meant for everyone. If you’re like me and have some hips, thighs, and a butt; stay clear of super low-rise and the super skinny leg. Try a mid to low rise jean that hits about an inch or two below the the belly button, and try a wider skinny leg between 7-9 inches wide.

#7-Belts: from super wide to super skinny, belts are being used to add that extra something to an outfit. Worn with button up shirts, dresses and tunics. Belts can turn a boring outfit into something edgy, sophisticated, or chic.

#8-Menswear for women: Power suits, pinstripes, and plaid. This look is fitted and flattering to a woman’s shape that provides both a powerful and sexy look.

#9-Not just a kilt: Plaid is now refined. Try them it on a pump, elegant skirt, cape, coat, clutch, blouses and dresses. The
school girl image of plaid is officially shaken.

#10-Glamor not trashy flashy: muted metallics. Purses, jewelry, and shoes. Try them in shades of bronze, rose, and gold.

#11-Short and stylish: little dresses in a mini length that hits mid-thigh. Try them in fabrics like cotton, wool or jersey. In styles like a-line, shirt dresses, jumpers, empire-waist, romantic lace, or puff sleeves. Pair them with leggings or dark tights, flats or heels, or with a belt. Good for day or night.

#12-Romance is necessary: high-collared, gauzy, ruffled, or laced. Romantic tops are perfect for layering, under a cropped jacket, and in a vast array of colors.

#13-Coats and Capes: ladylike, toggle, and belted are the best ways to keep warm. These coats are just above the knee or longer to just below. Capes are replacing those big pouchy ponchos. Try them cropped and match them with slim pants or a pencil skirt, knit is updated replacing the cardigan, and long which are mid-thigh that are the easiest to work with any wardrobe.

#14-Touch of Color: the best shades to go with are cherry reds, chocolate browns, classic black. Warm hues such as navy, deep plum purple, and burnt orange are the best way to refine your look.

#15-Wild: natural animal print, especially leopard is making it’s way back to fashionable. The key is to be subtle. Try it in a belt, bag, clutch, platform, boot or flat. Spice up any outfit, but be careful. Animal print is loud enough, don’t go crazy pairing it bright red, and stay away from unnatural colors such as hot pink, blue, green, etc…

These are the hottest new trends for fall. Pick and choose your favorites. Don’t get caught up in the hype of designer lables or which celebrity is wearing what. Confidence is what matters the most. When you look good, you feel good. Find what works for you and make them your own.
