Why You Should Visit Fripp Island

Fripp Island, South Carolina is one of the best vacation spots. This private island offers three-and-a-half miles of quiet, pristine beach, only open to residents and guests, preventing the overcrowding most beaches experience during the summer. With activities available for everyone in the family, it’s no wonder this island is becoming more popular as a great vacation getaway!

In addition to the beautiful beach, Fripp Island offers several pools throughout the 3,000-acre resort. Guests of the resort are offered one free hour of tennis at the resort’s Raquet Club and a free rating clinic with a USPTA pro. The resort also offers three 18-hole golf courses.

If you’re looking for a place to dine, one of the best restaurants is Bonito Boathouse Restaurant and Sunset Lounge, located at the Fripp Island Marina. This restaurant offers delectable seafood caught at the Marina. There are also several sandwich shops, such as Hugo’s CafÃ?© and Deli.

The island also hosts many shops. If you’re needing a few grocery items but don’t want to drive 30 minutes to the closest grocery store, then visit the Visitor’s Center. T.T. Bones General Store and Spirits offers many items that are often forgotten when packing, such as suntan lotion.

Fripp Island Resort has also built several playgrounds throughout the island for young children. Croquet courts are offered at The Beach Club, and Boccie ball courts are found on the beach.

The Marina offers a place to dock your boat, or you can rent a boat for the day. Dolphin tours are also available, and kayaking tours are given seasonally.

Fripp Island also offers activities for children and teens throughout the season and on holidays. Teens are invited to join in activities such as Casino Night, Glow in the Dark Fun, and canoe trips. Camp Fripp is offered from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. from Memorial Day through Labor Day for children ages five to 12. This day camp offers many activities for children, including swimming lessons and crafts.

With all these activities available, you and your family would never even have to leave the island! However, if you’re looking for something else to do, take a day trip to Hilton Head Island, just 55 miles away, or to Savannah, just 65 miles away.

Hilton Head Island is mostly known for its many shops, including the Hilton Head Factory Stores 1 and 2, known for its outlet store prices. End your day at Hilton Head by heading over to Harbour Town to sing with Gregg Russell around the Big Oak Tree at 7:30 p.m. daily.

Take a trip to Savannah for a fun, educational experience! The Old Town Trolley Tours offer reasonable fares to show you the historical district. You can choose to stop at museums and historical houses as you travel around the city.

If you would rather spend your time shopping, park close to the waterfront as parking is scarce in this city! The City Market is located on the water and hosts many unique shops. There is even an open-aired market right on the water, where local merchants display their handmade wares. If you want to dine in Savannah, the absolute must-eat restaurant is Lady & Sons, owned by renowned TV chef Paula Dean and her sons. While the wait time at this well-known restaurant can be a couple of hours, the food is well worth the wait. Put your name in to reserve your spot, and then go shop at one of the many stores located nearby!

Fripp Island has it all – beaches, shopping, dining, entertainment, and the vacation you have always wanted!
