Washing Walls with a Homemade Solution
Walls that are made of wood like wood paneled walls can be cleaned with a wash water made with a quart of warm water, two tablespoons of olive oil and a half cup of white vinegar. Mix the ingredients together and then take a soft damp cloth and dip the soft damp cloth into the wash water and squeeze out the excess wash water. Take the dampened cloth and wipe the paneling in an up and down motion. Dry the paneling with a dry towel after you have wiped it with the damp cloth.
Painted walls or varnished surfaces can be cleaned with a solution of one gallon of warm water, one cup of ammonia, half a cup of white vinegar and a quarter cup of baking soda. Dip a clean soft cloth into the solution and wipe the walls till clean. You do not need to dry these walls since the solution will not dull the finish.
To remove the fingerprints on woodwork you can rub a piece of potato slice over the stain. After you clean the woodwork with the slice of potato take the juice of one lemon and dilute it in a quart of water. Dampen a soft cloth with the lemon water and rub it on the woodwork surface to create a shine.
If you have a stone wall or a brick fireplace you can clean it with white vinegar. First you should brush off the excess dust and dirt that has accumulated on the stone wall or brick fireplace. Then you can wash the stone wall or brick fireplace off with the white vinegar.
Everyone has an idea of how clean their walls should be. If you are not comfortable with the dirt on your walls it may be time to try to clean them.
