Product Review: Dreamer Design Ditto Lite Double Jogging Stroller

The Dreamer Design Ditto Lite Double Jogging Stroller is the best mid-priced double jogging stroller on the market. Built for walking or jogging, it has many features that improve the experience for the pusher and the riders. Although there are some features that could be improved, this product is near-perfect and an excellent value.

Last spring, after my double umbrella stroller tipped over on a bumpy sidewalk, I decided it was time to purchase a double jogging stroller. I use an outdoor stroller frequently, walking or jogging about 20 miles per week, pushing both kids. The stroller terrain that we travel is bumpy, uneven sidewalk and flat, dirt trails. My kids are ages 2 and 4 and weigh about 65 pounds together. The Dreamer Design Ditto Lite Double Jogging stroller fits my needs perfectly and we use it all the time.

Double joggers range in price from $199 all the way up to almost $800, with all kinds of features and quality levels in between. The Dreamer Design Ditto Lite Double Jogger was the best in the $300 to $400 price range (most online retailers sell it for around $379 with free shipping).

The Dreamer Design has all of the features that one would expect in a good jogging stroller: a sturdy frame, large and durable tires, a smooth ride and plenty of storage. It also has some attributes that make it stand out from others in the category. The canopy system on the jogger is excellent; there is a separate canopy for each rider and the canopies can fully shade the child or come all the way up. A large parking brake is easy to operate and gives confidence that the stroller will not roll away when you are stopped. The Dreamer Design is light for a double jogger (under 30 pounds) and easy to push and maneuver.

There are a few items that Dreamer Design could improve on their Ditto Lite Double. Transporting the stroller can be challenging if you have a smaller vehicle; the wheels do pop off easily, but the flattened stroller takes up a lot of room. This stroller is not meant for tall children – at around 40 inches tall, the child’s head would probably be touching the canopy. The five-point harness is definitely secure, but it can be difficult to adjust, especially if the riders are wearing ski coats or other puffy clothing. The water bottle holders for the pusher work well, but the ones for the riders are useless.

Final note: Don’t buy this stroller if you are looking for something to push around the mall; it is meant for serious outdoor child transport and exercise, not shopping. The stroller is too large for a shopping center or department store, and that is not what it is designed for.
