Is Your Bathroom the Cleanest Room of Your Home?

Many people would love to say that their bathroom is the cleanest room in their home. It isn’t hard to get a bathroom clean. It just takes a little bit of muscle, a bit of organizational skills, some cleaners and a bit of work. The challenge comes in keeping your bathroom this way.

Here are some handy organizing and cleaning tips that might help you make your bathroom the cleanest room of your house and help you keep it that way.

1. SHOWERS AND TUBS

Keeping our showers and tubs clean is a major chore. Start with a thorough cleaning. Then try some of those daily cleaners. Most of them you can just spray and leave. No rinsing needed.

2. THE COMMODE

This can be a nightmare to keep clean. Again, start with a thorough cleaning. This will have to be done a couple times a week, possibly more depending on the size of your family. They also make daily spray cleaners you can use to help keep your commode sparkling clean and germ free. I like the foam ones, myself.

You might also like those disinfectant disks that many people love. They usually hang in the back of the tank. When you flush the commode the water hits the disk and some of the disinfectant is transferred into your commode. Personally, I love the idea. But I hate the ones that turn my commode water blue. (Which most of them do). My commode isn’t the sea.

3. TOWELS

Teach your family to hang up those towels. If you don’t have much storage room for them consider rolling them up instead of folding them. Your cabinet could hold more of them this way.

4. THE MEDICINE CABINET.

Remember the medicine cabinet doesn’t have to hold everything. Keep daily medicine in the cabinet along with some essentials (bandages, razors, alcohol, etc). Other items you don’t use daily can be kept in plastic shoe box and stored in another cabinet or even another room.

5. SOAP

Do you really have to keep those messy soaps out in the soap dishes for your family to use to wash their hands? Soap in pump bottles are much less messy and comes in pretty containers.

6. CURLING IRONS AND HAIR DRYERS

Are they taking up too much space in your drawer? Have your ever thought about getting a special rack for these and hanging them up on your wall?

7. DRAWERS

Speaking of drawers and space, what is the best way to keep these organized? The best weapon for this job is drawer dividers, little cubes and trays of all sizes to store your items.

8. BASKETS

These are a nice organizational tool. They are perfect for storing soaps, hair clips, brushes, makeup, wash clothes, etc.

9. MIRRORS

Do you hate it when your mirror steams up after your shower? Next time, you go to wash off that steam spray some air freshener on your rag. It will clean your mirror, make your room smell good and hasn’t formed any build up on my mirror, yet.

10. FLOORS.

There is no getting around it. The floor will have to be mopped and swept. The best advice here is to wipe up and spots as soon as you notice them. This will help keep your floor looking cleaner between mopping.

11. RUGS

Rugs should definitely be used. They give the bathroom a homey look. But remember to buy throw rugs that you can wash. Rugs can really hold in germs and smells.

12. TRASH CANS

If you are using those little trash cans that most people do in their bathrooms, save your money on liners and use every day plastic shopping bags. They are the perfect size and free, which means you change them more frequently. Plus, you are recycling them.

13. AN ENCLOSURE

My husband built the perfect enclosure for our bathroom. He enclosed our hot water tank. It matches our bathroom cabinets and looks like it belongs. Plus, it gives me the perfect hiding place for the toilet brush and the daily cleaners I use. The top is also the perfect place for him to keep his razor away from little hands.

14. PACKAGES.

Don’t forget to take things out of packages to save space. Things like cotton balls, cotton swabs, bandages and the like can be kept in canisters or in cubes in your drawers.

15. PICK UP AFTER YOURSELF

The best tip of all is to learn to pick up after yourself. If you do this on a daily basis, your bathroom will stay neat and tidy.
