Now, the first thing you need to do is start to put your bookcase together. The inexpensive laminate bookcase usually come in a small box in quite a few pieces.
So, before you get started though, keep in mind that you need to leave that back piece off the bookcase. This is where you will be applying your cork board!
Now, once your bookcase it put together you need to take the back piece and lay it down flat on the ground. Measure this with your tape measure.
Now, cut out your cork board sheeting to this same size.
Lightly mist the back of the bookcase with a strong spray adhesive. You should do this outside if possible in a well ventilated area.
Now, roll up your cork board.
Place one end in place ling up the corners. Gently until the corkboard along the back of the bookcase. You will want to smooth any air bubbles as you go!
Once you have the cork board sheeting in place on the back of the bookcase you want to flip it over so that the cork board is laying face down. Use an exacto knife to trim any areas that are extra and did not match up.
Tip: If you want you can cut your cork board out larger and do this trimming process to be exact the first time. This will make lining it up so much easier on the back of the bookcase.
Now, let this spray adhesive dry as long as the can says it need to. Many spry adhesive products will have different drying times.
Now, once the glue has dried install the cork board on the back of your book case.
Install just like you would have normally. Te cork board sheeting is so thin it should not get in the way. You may need to use a slightly longer 1 inch finishing nail in place of the nails that came with your laminate bookcase, but hey are super cheap and easy to find.
