How to Cope with the Transition from a House to an Apartment
Obviously if you are moving from a house to an apartment you will not be able to bring all of your items with you. If this is going to be a temporary move for you, then you may want to place some of your items into storage. If however you do not plan on every buying a house again, then you may want to consider having a garage, or yard sell in order to get rid of some of the items that you will not be using anymore. You should make sure that you take the time to measure your new apartment to see exactly what furniture will fit and what pieces won’t. This way you won’t waste your time moving pieces back and forth. If however you don’t want to have a yard or garage sell then you can always just give some of your items away to friends or relatives who would put them to good use.
You will also have to take the time to familiarize yourself with the rules of an apartment. Since you have been used to living in a house and having your own space you have not had to worry about rules. If you are renting at an apartment complex some of them assign parking spaces, and there are separate ones for your guests. You really should take the time to let any of your friends know that when they come to visit they will have to park in designated spots. You should also make sure that you know which spot is yours. The bottom line is that it will definitely take you some time to get used to renting an apartment instead of living in your house. If you take the time to research a place before you actually move in then you should have no problem getting comfortable with your new home.
