Review of Arm & Hammer Essentials Laundry Detergent and Fabric Softening Sheets

My mother always used Arm & Hammer Laundry Detergent and I did, as well, off and on throughout my adulthood. I had gotten away from it a couple of years ago because my clothes just didn’t seem to be getting as clean as I would like. With three children, I don’t have time to fool around with an ineffective laundry product. However, I had spotted two new Arm & Hammer Laundry products in the grocery aisle and was intrigued.

The products, Arm & Hammer Essentials Laundry Detergent and Fabric Softener Sheets, were priced right for me to take them home and give them a try. A bottle of concentrated detergent was $2.50 and offered 32 loads. The sheets were around $3.00 and there were 144 of them. The scent through the box of sheets was wonderfully clean and I was impressed with the natural nature of these products. I was excited to get them home and give them a try.

The Arm & Hammer Essentials Laundry Detergent has no dyes and is completely clear. It is boosted with baking soda and made of plant-based soaps that are biodegradable. That is important, especially, if you have a septic tank system. Its surfactants are 100% naturally derived; it has no phosphates, bleaches, or petroleum-based cleaners. The bottle is very small, easy to carry, and takes up little space. I have a front-loading Whirlpool Duet HE machine and I was pleased to see that it does not foam up or cause any problems in that way either.

Best of all, our clothing has been coming out extremely clean and fresh smelling. I have used the Essentials fabric softening sheets, as well, and they are effective in softening, freshening, and they do not leave any kind of stains on our clothing. Many times in the past we would have a problem with oily-type stains on our dark clothing after we would get it out of the dryer. We often suspected the dryer sheets. But Arm & Hammer’s Essentials Dryer Sheets do not have petroleum-based softeners and the problem has been eliminated.

Everyone in our household suffers from sensitive skin. Two of our children have had reoccurring problems with eczema. None of us have had any type of skin allergy to either of these products in the Essentials line. My daughter, who is plagued with the worst case of eczema in the house, actually has had fewer outbreaks since we started using these products. I would recommend Arm & Hammer Essentials to those who have young children or babies, as well, because of the gentleness.
