Household Products You Can Make at Home

I am probably the cheapest person I know, and I hate spending money on cleaners, however, I have yet to turn to making my own cleaning products, baby products, etc, to save my family some money. Today, I decided it was high time to stop wasting my money on these easy to make products, and become just that much more cheap! Here are a few recipes to get yourself started on your way to being a “Homemade” queen…or princess!

All Purpose Cleaner:

2T vinegar
1 tsp Borax
Hot water
A few drops of your favorite mild dish detergent
10 drops of essential oil (for scent only, not required)

In a 16 oz spray bottle, add your vinegar, Borax, and some hot water. Mix well until the Borax is completely dissolved in the liquid. Add your detergent and essential oil, then fill the rest of the bottle with more hot water until it is full. Enjoy!

Window Cleaner:

3 T Ammonia
1 T Vinegar

Put the ingredients into a spray bottle, then fill with hot water.

Wood Polish:

1 Part Canola Oil
1 Part Lemon Juice

Mix and polish

Baby Wipes:

2 cups warm water
2 T baby shampoo
2 T baby oil

Mix ingredients together and soak heavy duty, white paper towels. My friend likes to use Brawny. She cuts the roll in half so it looks like two rolls of toilet paper. Pull the cardboard center out. She then uses a large rubbermaid container, places the mixture in the bottom, then puts the half roll on top of the mixture. It begins soaking up the mixture immediately, so she turns the container upside down so it soaks all the way through the towels. Once they are completely soaked, you can pull from the middle of the roll to get your first wipe!

Comet:

Baking Soda works just as well as Comet.

Plant Bug Spray:

2 T liquid soap (ex. Ivory Soap)
1 galon water

Mix and put into a plastic spray bottle. Spray onto your plants.

*******Warning!!!!! Never mix products like bleach with any acid like ammonia or vinegar, because it creates toxic fumes that can be harmful to you or anyone else in your home.*********
