Review of Shot Spot Stain Remover

Our home has had every stain imaginable. I have been a licensed home daycare provider for for 25 years, and believe me I have seen it all. Our carpets have really taken a beating over the years! My daycare children have left stains on walls, carpets, furniture, bedspreads, etc. You name it, I’ve probably seen it. I have tried many different spot removers. Some do a terrible job of removing spots, some seem to work (until the spot magically returns when the carpet is dry), and then there are those tried and true that really do what they say and remove stains! Spot Shot is one of those, this spot remover really lives up to it’s name.

How To Use Spot Shot

You simply spray the spot remover onto the stain and wait 60 seconds. Then you blot the stain with a soft, dry cloth. NEVER rub the stain, all this will do is spread it around and make the stain larger, and inevitably harder to clean. For some tough spots, like grape juice, I had to repeat the steps a few times before I the spot came out, but it did eventually come out.

What Stains Will It Remove?

I have used it on a bedspread to remove magic marker, I even removed magic marker from a dolls face with Spot Shot. It has removed many different stains on my carpeting, including wood stain, grape juice, koolaid, wine, and ink. You can almost see the stain magically move from the soiled item onto the cleaning cloth, seriously! I dab the stain, and soon the stain transfers onto my cleaning cloth. After subsequent treatments the stain is totally gone. This is one powerful and effective tool to have around the home. It can also be used on laundry stains. You need to test for colorfastness first, for both carpet and laundry, and it cannot be used on silk or other fabrics that say “dry cleaning only”.

I have a favorite yellow cable stitch simmer sweater. Recently when I did laundry, I failed to find a ball point pen in my husbands shirt or pants pocket. When I took my clothes out of my washer, I didn’t notice the stains, I just threw all the clothes into the dryer and went on my merry way. Well, when I removed the dry clothes, there were ink marks not only all over my sweater, but all over the inside drum and door of my dryer! What a mess. I almost threw my sweater away, but then I remembered Shot Spot. I couldn’t make it any worse! I bet I spent a good two hours dabbing away at all of those spots, and today you cannot see one of them! I did have to wash my sweater a few times to get all of the Spot Shot from the yarn fibers, and because of that my sweater is indeed faded, but it is still wearable.

Where Can It Be Found?

I originally ordered mine from a woman’s magazine a long time ago. I have seen it at times in the cleaning section at WalMart, for a price of $3.59.

What I Don’t Like About Spot Shot

I don’t like aerosol cans, and I don’t like chemicals. Spot Shot smells similar to nail polish remover, and I don’t care at all for the smell. I’d tell you what the active ingredients are, but they are not listed on the can. There are times when nothing else will work, and this is when I will make a sacrifice and use a product like this.

The Bottom Line

It works, and it’s not very expensive. Considering all the stained items that can be salvaged with this product, it is worth a lot more than it costs! That reminds me, I need to put it on my shopping list! Give it a try and see if it won’t rejuvinate your belongings! It comes with a satisfaction guarantee.
