Hypertension can be controlled by a little willpower, as the patients have to avoid the use of salt and make exercise a habit.

Consume around four grams of salt a day and no more. Excessive use of salt causes your blood vessels to retain fluid, which consequently increases blood volume. This is a major drag for your heart, as it has to push harder to circulate the blood throughout the body. However, avoiding the use of salt is easier said than done, but for the sake of your own well being you should go for natural herbs and spices.

Aerobic exercise, which include walking, swimming and jogging are some of the best ways for controlling your hypertension. In our day and age, we seldom have time for exercise, but let’s be honest, once we get hypertension we really do not have much options on the table, which makes it more important for us to plan an exercise session. We could get 30 minutes out of work to take a brisk walk, which will be more than enough to lower the blood pressure. Exercising five or six days should be our goal.

If you are overweight, it is advised that you shun off those extra pounds for a longer and prosperous life.

Do not drink too much, as excessive drinking increases blood pressure. I would recommend switching to milk instead of booze.
