Pros and Cons of a Dispenser Water Filter System

One common water filter system that you see people using is the dispenser water filter system. Having pros and cons this water filter system is not right for everyone, but some people find that it works well for them.

Pros of a Dispenser Water Filter System

Fits in Sink
Usually the dispenser water filter systems are designed to fit into your kitchen sink to make filling them with water more easy.

Size Allows Room on the Counter or Refrigerator Shelf
Since a standard dispenser water filter system is only the width of an average coffee maker it takes up little room on your counter top or fridge shelf. Normally the length of a dispenser water filter system will not reach the end of your fridge or counter allowing you to place items behind it.

You Can Keep Your Water Cool in the Fridge
Because a dispenser water filter system fits so well in the fridge you can keep it in the fridge at all times to keep your filtered water cool. Simply just pull it slightly off the shelf when you need to dispense filtered water and push it back for safety when it is not in use.

Some Models May Hold More Water Than Pitcher Water Filtering Systems
The Amount of filtered water that an average model of a dispenser water filtering system can be more than the amount of water that a pitcher water filter system holds.

Cons of a Dispenser Water Filter System

Have to Fill the Dispenser
Unlike a faucet mount water filter system you will have to remember to fill a dispenser water filter system in advance and continue fill it with water to ensure that you have filtered water when you need it.

Takes Two Hands to Use
Since you can not pick up the dispenser water filter system very easily you will have to hold the container that you want to fill with water, a cup, bowl or pot, with one hand and push down on the dispenser to get the water to pour out of the filter system with the other hand. This also makes for an impractical way to serve water at meals.

If You Are Filling Something That Takes Two Hands to Hold You May Have to Move the Dispenser.
When you are filling a large bowl or pot that takes both hands to hold while you fill it with water you may consider placing in the sink, if it is not higher than the counter, and scooting the dispense over to the sink to fill it with filtered water or set it on something like a chair underneath the dispenser but neither of these methods are very convenient.
