Organizing Your Linen Closet Quickly and Easily
First, you need to do some weeding out in order to organize your linen closet. Look through your towels and washcloths first. If there are some that are heavily stained or ripped, it is time to either get rid of them or put them where you keep the rags and cleaning supplies. They will make handy tools to wash cars, dust, etcetera.
Once you have gotten rid of these towels and washcloths you should already have a lot more room in your closet! It’s not time to stop yet though. You may have some towels that you purchased before remodeling your bathroom, or that people gave you as presents. If you have enough, donate them! Only keep the towels that match your bathroom decor. This will add to the quality look and feel of your bathroom.
Now you should have a manageable number of terry cloth items. Organizing your linen closet has been painless so far!
What you need to do next is repeat the process with your sheets and linens. Do you have sizes of sheets that no longer fit your beds? If you have an empty nest and no longer have twin beds in your home, it does not make sense to keep twin size bed sheets.
Additionally, weed out sheets that are torn, ripped, or stained. Donate them if they are in good enough shape, or use them as rags. Organizing your linen closet isn’t that difficult so far!
Next, take stock of the rest of the items. If you have things like candle sticks, doilies, and other miscellaneous items, go through them as well and only keep the things you need, are in good repair, and match your decor. The rest you can donate or resell.
Now that you have gotten rid of all the items you do not need. It is time to think of how you actually want to arrange your linen closet. It makes sense to keep like items together. Your towels should be stacked according to size. Your bed linens should be folded VERY neatly. It is a pain to fold those fitted sheets, but doing so properly will ensure a sleek look for your linen closet.
If you have tablecloths in your linen closet, but sure to fold those neatly as well. Nothing is worse than having to host an unexpected dinner party and having to quickly iron a tablecloth because it wasn’t folded properly.
There should be place for everything. All items should be neatly folded and stacked so that they can be found easily. If you follow these steps, you should have no trouble organizing your linen closet. You will feel so much better once you go to look for things and they are easy to spot and easy to manage.
