Virgin Pina Colada Mix Recipe

Pina Colada is an excellent summer drink. It is usually a sweet cocktail with cream of coconut, pineapple juice and some rum in it. The ingredients are mixed in a blender and then poured into a glass, which is then garnished with a pineapple wedge or a maraschino cherry.  It is the official beverage of Puerto Rico for the last 25 years.

If you are planning to hit the local bar club, you should consider buying one glass of Pina Colada for yourself, simply because it cools down your body temperature. Additionally, its taste is heavenly. You can buy all the ingredients from a local grocery shop or the nearest supermarket.

A bartender, Mr. Ramon Marrero is known to be the creator of this drink. According to sources, he spent months to perfect the recipe. After ensuring it had all the required flavours in it, Marrero started to sell Pina Colada in his bar and it became a success instantly. Marrero sold his first Pina Colada in August 1954 and since then it has become a popular beverage in almost all countries in the world.

Although the drink was first sold in 1954, Rupert Holmes’ song Escape, also known as the Pina Colada Song, played a big part in helping it gain more worldwide popularity.
