How to Make Pecan Brittle

Pecans are easily available in the stores and you can buy this delicious nut from anywhere in the world. It is found mostly in the United States of America and is very good for your health. You can simply keep them in your pocket and eat whenever you like, especially when you are feeling a bit cold.

However, it is important to keep the pecan brittle otherwise the taste will not remain the same like a fresh one. You will not enjoy it at all, as it will get as soft as a rubber and you will have to continuously chew it like a gum.

Most of the people will not like situation at all and they will throw the nuts into garbage, as they will feel it has been wasted. However, that is not what you should be doing at all, as there is an easy way to make it brittle again.

The most important thing is to keep the pecans into an airtight jar, so that you do not need to be in this position. If you have somehow forgotten to do that, there is nothing to worry about. You just need to follow some easy steps, which will make the nuts brittle again.

You will need a few ingredients to go through this process. Moreover, you will need some important utensil to get your desired result.

Prep time: 10 to 15 min
Refrigerator time: 1 hour
Total time: 1 hour and 15 min
Yield: 4 to 6 servings
Utensils: 1 1/2 quart microwave safe glass dish, Cookie sheet, Airtight container, Microwave oven

Ingredients:
Sugar: 1 cup
White corn syrup: 1/2 cup
Pecans: 1 cup
Butter or margarine: 1 tsp.
Madagascar vanilla extract (or similar high quality vanilla): 1 tsp.
Baking soda: 1 tsp.

Instructions

    Mix together the sugar and corn syrup

    Stir the sugar and corn syrup in the microwave safe glass dish and heat them for about five minutes on high temperature.

    Microwave the pecans until light brown

    Next thing is to heat the pecans on high temperature for about three minutes. They will now take a light brown colour.

    Combine both things and add butter and vanilla to the mixture

    After bringing the syrup and pecans together, add butter and vanilla to them and heat for another couple of minutes.

    Add baking soda and pour the mixture into a cookie sheet

    Once you have added the baking soda, stir for a few seconds, and then pour the mixture into a cookie sheet. After it cools down, you will get brittle pecans ready to be eaten.
