Product Review: The QVC 15-Piece Pet Home Grooming Kit

Bringing your dog to the groomer can be a trying process for both you and your pet. My dog is quite jumpy and she gets nervous when a stranger puts her up on the table and starts touching her. I always had to stay there with her anyway so I was wasting time and money by bringing her to get groomed. Each trim cost about $50 and since I was bringing her twice a year that added up. I believe it is important to keep my dog’s fur trimmed so that she always looks clean and presentable.

I decided to try the 15 piece Pet Home Grooming Kit from QVC for $60. This set only costs a little more than one trim at the groomers. I liked the idea that I could trim her whenever it was convenient for me.

I was a little worried about messing it up and leaving my poor dog with bald patches. However, the kit comes with an instructional DVD to show you how the clippers work. It also explains how to trim different areas of your pet and how to do different styles. I only use it for my dog but I suppose you could use it on a long haired cat to keep him cool in the summer.

The kit comes with several pieces. The main component is the electric clipper which is light weight and easy to hold in my hand. It has a long cord which is nice for when my dog decides he has had enough and wants to walk off. There are six comb attachments so you can choose the one that is right for the length of your pet’s hair. These are great because they help to keep all of the hair at an even length which was something I was really worried about. There is a set of scissors for trimming any fur you cannot get to with the clippers. A styling and a grooming comb also come with the set to help comb out the fur before you start cutting.

I found this product to be a great investment. It will save me money in the long run. I am able to give my dog a great trim on my own instead of wasting time and working around the groomer’s schedule. I believe my dog is much more comfortable letting me trim him than he used to be with the groomer.
