Review of Whirlpool Cabrio Washer and Dryer

When my washer finally broke I was extremely excited to buy a new one. I WAS excited until I started the searching process. It took me 3 months to decided on a washer and dryer. It seems that customer reviews, for the most part, are completely useless and not because of the reviewer but because of the products. Every single washer and dryer that I researched on-line had nearly equal amounts of positive and negative reviews. Are the products produced today so inconsistent that there would be such an even number of satisfied and dissatisfied customers?

Well after worrying and reading terrible reviews and horror stories about bad smells and water leaks and moldy clothing, I finally decided on the Whirlpool Cabrio. I ultimately decided that I wasn’t going to rely on the reviews. I asked my self, what did I need in a washer and dryer? I safe guarded my decision by purchasing an extended warranty and hoped I made the right decision. That was 7 months ago and so far so good.

WASHER PROS
1. Huge washing capacity. If you have a large family this is the way to go. It will more than cut your washing time in half.

2. Shortens drying time. When you remove your clothes from the washer they are nearly dry.

3. Uses very little water.

4. Top loader. I don’t know about anyone else but I was not in love with the idea of breaking my back to load clothing in and out of the washer. The front loaders have an available pedestal but the price of the washer, dryer and the pedestals really pushed me over my budget.

5. A setting just for whites. This washer has a setting that is just for your whitest clothes. This cycle washes your clothes longer to get those whites as clean as possible.

6. Energy Star appliance. Not only is this important for the environment but the way the price of EVERYTHING is going up these days it’s important to save a buck where you can.

7. Dispensers for soap, bleach and fabric softener. Most soaps recommend that you don’t pour soap directly onto your clothing, but with my previous washer I always forgot to put the soap in before I started loading the washer. The washer also dispenses the soap at the right time in the wash cycle.

8. Easy to operate.

9. Looks Great.

10. Quick wash setting.

WASHER CONS
1. Washer is a little noisy.

2. If you don’t chose the correct setting the washer can become unbalanced, for example, if you are washing sheets and towels you must put the washer on the sheets and towels setting, other wise your load may become unbalanced.

DRYER PROS
1. Short drying times.

2. Quick dry setting.

3. Wrinkle free cycle. This is a great feature if you want to fold your laundry before it cools down and becomes wrinkled. When the dryer stops it continues to tumble the clothing every few minutes until you open the door. You also have the ability to turn this feature off which is great for those of us that don’t always have time to fold clothes right out of the dryer.

4. Looks great and the clear front door and option of turning on an interior light is very entertaining for toddlers.

DRYER CONS
1. This dryer had a sensor that shuts the dryer off when the clothes are dry, which helps to eliminate waste of energy drying already dry clothing, but the sensor isn’t as accurate when drying heavy fabrics like jeans, towels and pillows. In my experience I have had to restart the dryer when drying heavy fabrics 99% of the time.

Over all this is a great washer and dryer to own. I am extremely happy with the choice that I made and would highly recommend this washer and dryer to anyone. I still stand by my decision to purchase the extended warranty on both the washer and dryer and feel that it’s very important to safe guard your investment just in case you do happen to purchase a faulty machine.
