Mosquito Magnet Defender: A Product Review

The mosquito magnet defender works by attracting the mosquitoes within the yard, and decreasing the instances of the mosquitoes breeding. It captures them, so they cannot be the pesky insects biting, gnawing and irritating our skin.

When the mosquitoes are trapped within the defender they are slowly vacuumed in and eventually die within twenty four hours.

We decided to make this purchase after realizing the mosquito population at the cabin this year was at record high and we were being bitten more than ever before. Installing was a breeze with a propane tank from the local filling station.

It was purchased online for just fewer than three hundred dollars and shipping was quick from Amazon. Shipping was low, and quick. It was shipped from a retailer and left their hands in less than two days after ordering. I was impressed, yet another good experience with online shopping.

The unit looks as if it would withstand rain, hail and any other summer storms with ease. We decided to place it at the base of the deck so it would not be in the way, and would be safe from the children, animals etc. It came with a long enough cord that I was able to use the machine without having to purchase an extra extension cord. This was a plus, although, it would be a breeze to attach it to an extension cord if we wanted it a further distance away from our living and eating area.

When you first turn the machine on you will see the blinking red light, do not become alarmed by this light, as the machine is just warming up. When it is ready to go to full power than the light will turn a solid red color. At first, it did not look as if it was catching many mosquitoes; there were maybe fifty in the first couple of days. The machine also caught other bugs like gnats, and flies.

To have an impact on the mosquito population this machine is supposed to be running twenty four hours per day. We decided that this would be optimal, although I was concerned with the amount of propane that it was going to use. We decided to test it out for a week, and see the amount of propane used, and than make a decision based on that, as well as the amount of exposure we were left with to mosquitoes.

It turns out, the propane tank worked for a little over twenty days. This was good, I mean, I was willing to buy another propane tank if we were going to see less mosquitoes in the area.

Personally, this was a great choice. Over the course of the last three weeks we have been bitten eighty percent less than we were before we considered this contraption and we can enjoy dinners outside on the patio again. I give this a five, out of five!
