Ways to Cover Flaws on a Bathroom Mirror
Peel and Stick Decals
Flaws on a bathroom mirror can be covered with an array of peel and stick decals. These days peel and stick decals look far better than the decals of decades past. Many look as good as or better than detailed paintings, and since they are paper thin it is almost impossible to tell the difference. Peel and stick decals are ideal for covering flaws that are not on the edge of a bathroom mirror. They can be positioned and repositioned over and over. Best of all they are fairly inexpensive and can hide large or small flaws while adding color and design to the bathroom. You will find peel and stick decals in dozens of themes, and chances are you will find just the right decals to cover the flaws on your bathroom mirror.
Create a Tile Frame
If flaws are around the edges of a bathroom mirror, consider creating a frame using one-inch square ceramic tiles that color-coordinate with the bathroom. Measure the perimeter of the mirror and determine if any tiles will require cutting to properly fit the mirror. Begin in the corners, and if necessary, cut the piece that will go in the center of the frame using a small tile cutter. Attach the tiles with tile adhesive, and completely cover the flaws around the edges. Once all of the tiles have been applied, carefully apply grout to fill in the spaces, and wipe any excess grout from the mirror using a wet rag. Use care not to scratch it. Using a tile cutter really is not difficult, and once you create a tile frame around one bathroom mirror you will want to try other decorating projects using ceramic tiles.
Glass Paint
Flaws on bathroom mirrors can also be covered with painted graphics – if you have the confidence to try your hand at painting. If necessary, you can use a stencil to create anything from a butterfly to a whimsical frog to cover an ugly flaw. Buy glass paint and a fine-tip craft brush, and cover the flaw with a hand-painted graphic. You might want to consider painting the picture you intend on creating on a small hand mirror before painting it on a bathroom mirror. This is a great way to cover a flaw in a corner or in another location that is not near the edge, and covering a flaw is a better alternative to replacing a bathroom mirror.
