Eco-Friendly Home Cleaning Guide

All Purpose Eco-friendly Cleaning Solution:

2 cups water

1 cup distilled vinegar

2 tablespoons of lemon juice

Combine ingredients together in a spray bottle and use for every day eco-friendly cleaning. This solution is great for cleaning just about everything you can thing of; appliances, counter tops, laminates, floors, tile, ceramic, marble and any thing else you can think of. In addition to being eco-friendly there are no harsh chemicals to damage your surfaces.

In addition to the solution above simply using vinegar to clean is another great way to ‘green clean’. Use 1 cup of vinegar through your coffee pot to give it a clean, sparking white shine. Run one cycle of water through after cleaning. You coffee pot will be a good as new but with out the danger of chemicals being left behind.

Eco-friendly Bathroom Cleaner (great for soap scum and mildew)

Baking soda

Concentrate Lemon Juice

Sprinkle baking soda across the tub and shower walls. Holding your finger over the lemon juice bottle, gently shake enough lemon juice over the baking soda to create a fizzing effect. Allow the baking soda and lemon juice to work it’s magic. Let mixture set about 5 minutes and then scrub using a sponge or other cleaning pad. You will be amazed at how easy this eco-friendly bathroom cleaner works. It’s fizzing action removes the worst of stains and there are no harsh fumes and no slippery film left behind. Also great for kitchens sinks, toilets, and anything else that needs a helping hand.

More Eco-friendly cleaning products:

Lemon Juice- Cuts grease. Use whole lemons or bottled lemon juice.

If you are unable to line dry to do weather, space or other provisions then you can still do your part to be eco-friendly. Always check the lint screen. The lint screen has a lot to do with quick drying. When the lint screen is dirty and covered with lint then it takes longer to dry your clothes which uses more energy. Also, wash your lint screen. Most people aren’t aware that there is actually a film the builds up on your lint screen. Using warm water and a mild detergent, lather and rinse. Once you have done so you will actually be able to tell the difference. This build up is caused by laundry detergent and dryer sheets.

Eco-friendly Dish Washing

Whether you are washing dishes in the sink or you are using a dishwasher there are ways that you can do your part to be eco-friendly. If washing dishes in the sink save water by turning the water off when not in use. Wash dishes on one side of the sink and rinse on the other. Fill the rinse side up and then rinse. Don’t allow the water to run in between washing each dish.

If using a dishwasher then always, always, always fill the dishwasher completely before washing. If its just you and your spouse then you most likely don’t need to wash every night. Places dirty dishes in the dishwasher and wait till there’s more to turn it on.

When drying dishes always be sure to use a clean cloth. Avoid using paper towels and wasting.

Always use wash rags instead of sponges, not only do they hold in nasty germs but they wear out and have to be thrown in the trash. You can wash dish rags thousands of times before they need replacing.
