The first step is to weigh out the coffee, because having the right amount is essential to a perfect coffee. For every one ounce of water, there should be two grams of coffee. We are going to brew 28 ounces of water, so we will take nearly 60 grams of coffee. The quantity can be calculated by using a weighing machine.

In the next step we will grind the coffee in the bur grinder. Keep the grinder at coarse. This is done so because if the coffee is ground too fine, it can pass through the filter. This process takes about 10-15 seconds.

The next step is to preheat the French press. This is a great tip because having a consistent temperature helps us achieve a very good brew. The preheating is done by using hot water and its amount is the same, i.e. 28 ounces.

Now add the coffee to the French press. Now pour the water which is about 20 seconds off the boil. We want to use nice big cattle so that the water gets in pretty quickly, because a lot of turbulence can really agitate the coffee and it can become saturated. After pouring in the water, small gas bubbles appear which is according to the expected behaviour.

Now give the solution nearly 4 minutes to rest, time enough for water to extract all the essence from the coffee. After this break the coffee crust with the fork, allow some of the coffee to sink in. Now remove the froth and insert the press gently.

Now we are at a stage where we can serve the coffee. Take a cup and pour the coffee gently. There is some ground coffee at the bottom which will continue to extract the flavour. The coffee can be served with cream.
