Take the coffee mug. Add flour, sugar and cocoa powder into it and mix thoroughly. Now add the egg and mix well, until the texture of mixture looks visibly light and has a creamy look to it. Milk and oil are added next and the batter is mixed extensively to ensure that there are no air bubbles or discontinuities in it.

Add a little bit of vanilla essence to give flavour and if available, use nuts like Hazelnuts and almonds. This will add to the nutritional value, but will also increase the calorie count.

Now put the coffee mug in the microwave oven, turn it to high, and set the time to 3 minutes. During the cooking process, the batter would swell out of the mug, but it is nothing to worry about. To be sure that your material is not wasted, put a place beneath the cup.

The cake is allowed to cool a little at room temperature, and can then be served. One option can be to serve it with a scoop of ice cream. However if you want to use icing and that too quickly, take a quarter cup of white icing sugar, one tablespoon cold water, one egg white, a little bit of vanilla extract, a tablespoon of light corn syrup. Put them in a bowl and mix thoroughly over a boiling water. Do it for seven minutes, remove from heat and put the icing in the refrigerator. 15 minutes will be good enough to give the icing a nice texture and spread. It can then be applied on the cake and served.
