Painting Supplies: Shur-Line Trim & Touch-Up Pad

We just gave our bathroom a face lift, and it was my job to paint the walls and ceiling. I hate to paint, but I must say, the products that I was able to buy at my local Home Depot store sure made the chore much easier! One of the supplies I purchased was a small handled tool with a detachable pad, which is made by Shur-Line.

Description

This tool has a red handle that measures 4 inches long, and the portion that holds the painting pad is 2 1/4″ by 1 1/4″, and the disposable pads slip right over the edhes of the head. The pads are 1 1/2″ by 2 1/4″, and have a soft deep velvety nap that holds paint in place.

What makes these so easy to use is the fact that the handle meets the head at a 45 degree angle, so you can get very close to the edges of your door, the corners of the ceiling, or any other small places that are normally hard to reach. Just dip the pad into paint, being careful not to get too much on it, and slide this across your wall. When you are done, simply slide the pad off and throw away, or clean it like you would a paint brush, following the manufacturers direction of the paint or stain that you are using.

Thoughts

This tool has come in so handy, and not just for painting either. Last week I painted some trim on the outside of our home, on the garage door and the dining room door. There was a lot of dead bugs, cobwebs, etc. above the door, and I knew this all needed to be cleaned away before I painted it. but we are talking about a small area, and fingers didn’t fit too well in between the casing of the door and our cedar siding. I used my Shur-Line Trim Pad, and since it’s only 1/4″ thick, and has a spongy base, it will fit into these tight areas very easily, and this cleaned out the entire area in a snap. My husband asked me what I was doing, and was amazed by how clean this pad made the trim!

This kit comes with the red handled tool, and two touch up pads, and retailed for $4.00, a great buy! If you have any painting, staining or varnishing touch ups to do on trims, moldings, picture frames, this little tool will make the job so much easier. The angled neck takes a lot of work out of the project too, it’s designed to fit the hand and angled to allow you to do your work without getting your knuckles full of paint!

A small tool, but worth every penny. A big time saver!
