Choosing the Best Location for Your Haunted House

Halloween is obviously a great time for children, but it can be fun for adults as well. By turning your house or building into a haunted house attraction for Halloween. Not only will this help you to get into the holiday spirit, but you could even make a couple extra dollars if you are so inclined. In this article we will explore some of the most fantastic sites for converting into a haunted house.

Spooky Barn

Old farmhouses and pole barns make great buildings for conversion into a haunted house. More often than not there are also corn fields surrounding the buildings, and there may even be real live bats already living in the barn. Hang a couple of old, rusty farm implements on the walls and play some spooky music and you’re in business. Just make sure the barn isn’t so old that it may collapse at any moment; you want to scare your guests, not injure them.

Cottage / Lake House

Few things can be spookier than a rustic old cottage, ranch house or lake house at night. Its location near the water opens up great opportunities for fright that you can’t find any other area. If you are a professional diver, or know one, you can even have a frightening visit from the creature from the black lagoon – a full body dive suit is usually more than enough to scare any child on Halloween.

Garage

A dirty old garage can be an ideal place to host a haunted house, as well. With oil stains on the floor, and cobwebs decorating most ceilings and walls already, your job as a decorator is almost already complete! Splatter some blood on the floor, crank up the strobe light and fog machine and let the party begin!

Guest House

If you have a guest house, you may want to consider converting it to a haunted house for Halloween, as well. With a guest house you can take your time decorating, since you won’t be living in it at the same time. And when the party’s over, you won’t have to worry about cleaning up right away to get back into your normal, everyday routine.

The Woods

If your house is surrounded by trees or thick woods, you already have a spooky location, even if it is one of the more generic themes. People can hide almost anywhere, and spooky lights or glow sticks can be placed in some very creative places in the woods.
