Reducing Our Carbon Footprints

In Sept. 2008, according to the United States Dept. of Energy, we will spend an average of $1,152 per household just for heating this winter, That’s an increase of 17% over last year! And with fuel prices getting higher everyday the cost of maintaining our homes is skyrocketing, So it’s easy to see why a growing number of consumers would want to change to some type of alternative energy. Many families are now turning toward our old friend the sun for their energy needs. Using the sun for power is not a new idea but one that has been around for a long time. But now with new technologies solar energy is used for everything from running a calculator, to powering satellites in outer space.

Did you know that our sun produces more energy every hour than the entire energy needs of the human race since the beginning of time? And by using solar energy to power our homes not only does it save us money, But it is also good for the environment. Anytime we can avoid using fossil fuels for energy we are helping to reduce carbon emissions from polluting our atmosphere, These poisonous gases are created by the burning of fossil fuels and are a danger to the environment.

Solar power is a clean renewable source of energy with virtually no pollution, But lets don’t forget one of the most important things of all it’s free!
And there are many different designs of solar panel systems out there for you to choose from. You might choose to install a small system to start, One that is designed just for heating your water. Or you may want to go all out and install a system that is large enough to make you completely independent from the power companies all together. Whatever you choose to do the point is that solar energy is free, It’s available for us to use, and all we need to do to get this free energy is to harvest it.

By utilizing this free energy we are not only saving money we are also helping protect our environment. The use of solar energy is just one of the many things we can do to reduce our dependence on the use of fossil fuels, And using a clean renewable energy such as the energy we receive from our sun is taking a big step forward in the direction of reducing our carbon footprints. And that’s something we all can live with.
