Natural Cleaning Products: Six Ways to Clean Your Home

Maintaining a clean home can be a rather expensive chore. It requires purchasing a variety of cleaning agents such as multi-purpose solutions and air fresheners. However, instead of wasting money on an expensive multi-purpose cleaning spray, have you ever considered just relying on some natural cleaning products? In fact, many of these products are probably already in your home. Take a look:

Vinegar

Everybody has at least one bottle of vinegar lodged somewhere in their kitchen cabinets. However, most people are unaware of vinegar’s power for cleaning, disinfecting, and deodorizing.. Diluted vinegar (50/50 water and vinegar) can be used to scrub tiles, floors, sinks, countertops, and even toilets. Furthermore, vinegar functions great as an all-natural fabric softener; just add half a cup of vinegar to your laundry’s rinse cycle. However, do note that vinegar should never be used for cleaning marble surfaces.

Lemon Juice

Most people have at least one or two tiny containers of lemon juice hidden in their kitchen. They are terrific for giving food a lemony taste, not to mention drinking a corona. But, lemon juice can also be used to dissolve nasty soap scum and moldy deposits. Furthermore, lemon juice does a great job at disinfecting cutting boards, polishing hardwood furniture, and shining both brass and copper.

Baking Soda

Baking soda can usually be found wedged somewhere in the back of a freezer. It’s most famous for its ability to absorb nauseating ice odors. However, baking soda can also be sprinkled on a carpet before vacuuming. It leaves the carpet smelling nice and fresh.

Mayonnaise

Mayonnaise isn’t just for bologna sandwiches anymore. The next time spilled water leaves a water mark on your wood furniture, just apply some mayonnaises and let it sit for a couple hours. Then, wipe it away, let it dry, and the watermark will be gone.

Salt

Salt is a fundamental staple of American cuisine. It also just happens to be a great solution for handling grease spills in your oven. While it’s still warm, sprinkle a tad of salt on the grease spill. It will weaken the grease and make it easier to scrub away once the oven cools.

Cornmeal

In case you have a few containers of cornmeal at home, then you are in luck. The next time you accidentally spill grease on your kitchen floor, cover it with a generous dose of cornmeal. After a few hours, just vacuum up the mess.

Conclusion

The next time that you go shopping for cleaning supplies, take an extra moment to determine what you really need. Most likely, you probably already have everything you need at home!
